@Jaxith: In that case, the only other game I'd recommend to keep an eye out for is Last Blade 2. It's one of the smoothest, finest 2D fighters of that era. Criminally overlooked. Still not out on the Switch, unfortunately. Can't believe Neo Turf Masters was put in there before LB2. Seriously. -_-"
@Jaxith: King of Fighters '98 is considered the pinnacle of the KoF series by longtime fans. Tournaments still take place in Asia and South America for this game, where it's got a huge following in particular. The art isn't as gorgeous as in Garou, but it's definitely worth checking out.
You're making way too many assumptions about their relationship, and in particular, about her. You can't possibly know that "He's still better off without her." You're not in a position to make that evaluation, even if you DID have the details necessary.
Also, every relationship requires work if it's to function. What kind of effed up relationship would you have if both partners just did whatever they pleased because 'that's just who the are' and the other person just had to deal with it? Individualism trumps all? Sorry, that's not the case.
Are people supposed to just magically change their views once they get married? And what if they choose NOT to get married? What if they're common law? Does that count? People can be completely committed without going through a marriage ceremony, you know.

You see, there's this little something called 'compromise' when you're in a relationship, which is even more important when you're sharing a living space.
