Alright call it a price drop if you want, but the fact is the 360 never got cheaper after the price drop. The consumer always had an option for a $299 Xbox 360 before the Elite dropped in price. I highly doubt there was anyone waiting for an Elite price drop though. So lol at you.
When PS3s price dropped, it was the first time the consumer had the option for a $299 PS3.
RAGINGxPONY
so when the elite eventually down the road drops down to $199 your gonna act like thats not a price drop either
your gonna say 360 hasnt dropped its prices in the last 5 years it just keeps 'replacing' lol
Guy, you know the Arcade doesn't have a HDD. Everyone knows that the Arcade technically costs $300 dollars because you have to buy a HDD with it.
The only difference from the Elite and the Pro, is the Elite has 120 GB, i'm sure i don't need to explain this to you though. Whatever though guy, you can act like an idiot if you want, but you know the Elite price drop had little to no effect on sales.
It be like Sony replacing the Slim with that 250Gb HDD PS3, do you think that would effect sales?
well the 250GB only costs $50 more than the 120GB model while the elite did cost $100 more than the pro...so its hard to say but if i think if they did replace the the slim with something worth a $100 more it would affect sales moderately not a whole lot but it definately would.
anyways if you think the ps3 will NEVER catch up to the 360 you better think again because the ps3 has a 10 year shelf life so although nobody can say for sure i think theres still a lot of the 120 million PS2 owners holding onto their ps2 and waiting for maybe the $199 price point...

[QUOTE="Revolution316"]lmao...thats a price drop buddy. and they made the other model 199$.
RAGINGxPONY
i know i cant believe he thinks dropping the price of the elite from $399 to $299 is considered just "replacing", not a price drop lol

Didn't the 360 have a price drop around the time the PS3 had one?
Revolution316
No they simply replaced the Pro model with the Elite. Not really a price a drop.

why should halo 3: odst have been a system seller?
AdmiralBison
it doesn't take a genius to figure out halo is a bigger name than anything in videogames it doesn't matter if it's a sequel anything halo will get buys unlike uncharted 2 where uncharted 1 didn't sell well neither demons soul w3hich nobody even knows about yet halo is a household name and so is gta.
No Mario is a bigger name- it is synonmous with video games.
Since we are going by house hold names, I take it when GT5 comes out it would move Playstation 3's phenomonally?
How about the Playstation name? That should have moved the Playstation 3 to first already within 2 years of this generation especially how the PS2 performed.
Halo ODST still sold quite well(expansion or not-that's still debatable)
A console price drop obviously is more effective to moving consoles then games-even Halo and GTA.
The fact of the matter is WW the PS3 is still in last place, a few months of a sales spurt is not going to change that, and the pint of view where the Xbox360 has to beat the PS3 is backwards. It's the PS3 that has to beat the Xbox360.
Otherwise why does something like this make headlines in System Wars?
PS3 has a 10 year shelf life so i can garentee it will at least come within 1-2 million of the 360 if not pass it by a couple million

360 hasnt had a price drop in a year?????
they replaced it by dropping the price of the elite from $399 to $299 and then discontinuing the pro model
thats called a price drop u fail
very interesting thread

Sony advertised Blu-ray first and foremost with the PS3. There is no benefit by using Blu-ray and it hikes the price up - but Sony thinks it will get the money back on Blu-ray royalties.
And Sony is barely pumping games out, and if they cared so much why are they losing exclusives left and right? The moment GTAIV was going to the Xbox 360 on day one, I knew Sony didn't care about gaming anymore. Then when Final Fantasy XIII went to the 360, the PS3 was done IMO.
AHUGECAT
actually Sony lost GTA a long time ago GTA3, GTA: Vice City, and GTA: San Andreas were all on the original XBOX
so im not sure why when GTA;4 also went to xbox u figured out sony didnt care about gaming lol
Yeah, GTA3, Vice City and San Andreas went on the Xbox LONG after they were on the PS2. Sony didn't even bother trying to renew their timed-exclusive deal with GTA cause they were like "Eh, who cares? We just want Blu-ray players in homes."
so your pissed at sony for losing a timed-exclusive ?? if they had GTA4 for an exclusive 6 months you would of loved sony?

To Sony, there are 23 million Blu-ray players out there - not PlayStation 3's. Sony put Bluray into the PS3 as a trojan horse, they just used the PlayStation brand name to shove a new useless format down our throats. What they don't realize is that with the PS2, DVD's were the clear future. When the PS2 was released, movies such as Titanic, The Matrix and Star Wars Episode I were released, and many people saw the clear benefits with DVDs. Blu-ray just came out of nowhere and digital distribution is the future. Blu-ray was dead the second it came out.
AHUGECAT
No, there's 23 million PS3s out there. I'm sure 90% of owners of PS3 would buy it without the blu-ray. And PS3 as a trojan horse by using PS brand to sell.... I'm sure that's why it had lots of good games, you think of it was just for blu-ray, they wouldn't waste time making it good games, online, an internet browser, a video and game store, wi-fi... and digital distribution isn't the future, many, many people don't like it.
