PEICE OF $#*& !!!!!!

I am pretty much fed up with my dad and our computer. It's a piece of sh*t, plain and simple, and he won't buy another one because hes a cheap ba$terd.

To start off with, my computer is a completely stock Dell Dimension 4100 that we bought in 1999. It worked just fine back then, being a top of the line computer. Now-a-day's it's a different story. It's had a virus or two, and the only updates it's had has been to Windows Me. I don't even have XP. It gives me an error message every time I start it, freezes half of the time on start up, and can't go one full day without freezing once  Just today, in a 1 1/2 hour sitting, it has frozen 3 times. Yesterday in the 5+ hours I used it it froze seven times. I am just feed up. It's pissing me off so bad that I want to take a sledge hammer to it.

I have been trying to get my parent's to get a new computer for 2 years now. Everyone we know says we should. I know we should. The problem is my dad, who is the cheapest person on earth. He will do anything to save money, accept stop going to casinos every weekend and blowing 200 bucks on slot machines. Every time I get a new game or anything else, he b*tches and moans about it, but it's nothing for him to go to a casino all day and just p*$$ away money. If he would save his cash for a month or two we could get a new computer, a nice one that would last for a while.

I am at the point right now where I would go and spend my own money on a new one. I found a pretty nice online store called IBuyPower, which builds gaming PC's. They give you a list of components and you choose what you want. They offer named brand parts for about the same price it would cost you to build it yourself. I pieced together a low to mid level machine for under $800. One that has a AMD 3800 dual core processor, a GB of RAM, a Nvidia 7100GS graphics card, a 160GB hard drive, and speakers and a key board. But my dad refuses to buy one, saying that I will be in college in two years and it's a waste of money.

Well, better go before my computer freezes up again and I have to type all this over again.

No more Singingfish?

This certainly sucks. Every time I try to go to my favorite audio search site (where I downloaded over half of my music), it redirects me to AOL Video. I don't want to search for video, I want to search for music. Hopefully they are just making some improvements to the site and it's temporarily down. If not, I am going to have to find another search engine.

Also, in another bit of band news, it turns out that the rumors are true. The PS3 version of Oblivion, a game that I really, really want, will not have all of the DLC available. The memory limitations are real. Since the game was not built for the PS3, it's not going to use it's memory efficiently, which means that with all of DLC loading up, the game is going to take some performance hits, which were not acceptable. There will be some, but not all of it. I am hoping that they will release all of it when the Shivering Isles comes out. Since it will most likely be sold in retail stores on a BR disc, they might just put all of the DLC on it like they did with the KotN for the PC.

Well, all in all, today wasn't really that good gaming wise. Real life wise I am doing okay. I finally got all of my school work inline (I had a couple projects and a report to do), and everything is running smooth now. The bad thing is that yesterday my sinuses started acting up again. Hopefully it's just one of those 24 hour viruses thats been going around. I don't want to be stuck with this for a week or two.

Thats all for now.

It's Been A While...

It's hard to believe how long it's been since I have updated my blog or my profile. I have been coming here and occasionly posting a few times for a while now, but I never thought to post another blog, or even update my collection. Today is the day though.

The first and biggest thing that has happened since is that I have finally gotten a PS3. About a month or so after launch, I was able to track down one at my local EB Games. They hade just gotten a shipment in of 60GB's, so I snapped one up as quick as I could. I must say that I love my new console. I have it hooked up to the internet and everyhing, and have been having fun with it since the day I bought it. I would still like to buy a 360 one day, but right now I am plenty sastified with my PS3.

I bought Resistance before I got the console itself, and had a blast playing through it and had even more fun playing online. It's a little sad that it's really the only game worth buying right now, but that will all change in a few months. I also bought Blazing Angels a couple of weeks ago and have been obsessed with it. Don't let the crappy GS score fool you, it's actually one of the better (if not best) WWII dogfighting games out there.

Recently  have found myself becoming incresingly obsessed with TES IV: Oblivion. I have never played it before, but I am planning on buying it the day it comes out for my PS3. Just like with games in the past, I can't stand the waiting for it. It's driving me insane. I already have my character planned out, and I have been doing a good bit of looking into the game at uesp.net, which is a great source of Oblivion related information.

And I guess that wraps up this little update. I doubt that there will be a another one soon though.

The World Is Yours...

Well, Monday I finally caved in and bought Scarface: The World Is Yours. It took me until yesterday to finally beat the game, but I still don't have it at 100% completion. I was worried about it, because I thought that it would turn out to be another one of those crappy movie to game conversions, but it turned out to be a little more than that. Even though "it rewrites the most iconic scene in film history to justify its existence", as the Gamespot review put it, the game is actually half decent. For more of my thoughts, check out my review.

Playing through Scarface has got me even more hyped for Vice City Stories though. This will undoubtedly be better than Scarface in every way, and especially so since they decided to include an "empire" mode that lets you buy fronts and turn them into illegitimate businesses, which sounds like it was "inspired" by the Scarface game, though you will never hear a GTA fanboy say that.

Lost In The 50's

Lately I have been finding myself downloading more and more 50's doo-wop and early rock and roll ballads. I've never really had a favorite genre of music, but it looks like I have found it. I listen to a lot of different music, pretty much anything except for rap and hardcore metal (AC/DC is about as hardcore as I get).

In other big news I have just gotten my braces off. after 2 years of torment from having them I am finally free. No more excessive brushing and special care, no more terrible pain from getting them tightened, no more constant tension in my mouth. The only draw back to this is that I will probably be wearing retainers till I'm 20. These shouldn't be bad though. They are the new clear plastic type that just snap in. An supposedly I only have to wear them at night.

Well, that's all for this round.

Homecoming

Homecoming is coming up, and this is my first one. I've been going to my high school for 2 years now (since my school is jr. high and sr. high combined), and have never been to any of the dances held. Dances aren't really my cup of tea. But, in my usual late fashion (which goes for everything) I have found a date today and the dance is Saturday. I now have to get a complete suit: coat, tie, shirt, shoes, pants, belt, everything in just a few days, and make all sorts of plans to get to the dance and back (since I don't have my license yet). This sure will be interesting.

In other happenings, today I got myself a 2 GB memory stick for my PSP. I had a 1 GB, but Best Buy put the 2GB sticks on sale for $50, and with another coupon that I had, I got it for under $35. Not a bad deal for a stick that usually sells for around $80. I will now use the 1GB for my PS3. All of the music that's on it will be transferred to the HD, and I will use it for just game saves.

I am still patiently awaiting both Scarface and Vice City Stories. It's not that long of a wait now, and both games are starting to look very appealing. Also, I have finally decided when I am going to get my PS3. After seeing the number of PS3's get slashed from around 2 mil. by Christmas to 1.2 mil, I am going to wait till after the holiday season. Launch games usually aren't that good, and if there are any problems I don't want to have to go through the mess of having a defective console. Instead I will buy mine in January, after most of the rush, when there will be more consoles and I will be able to see what titles are good and what titles aren't.

And that's about all that I can think of for now.

Cooling Off

Ah, my favorite time of year is approaching. The temperature is finally starting to drop below 80, the humidity is coming in at around 50%, and there are plenty of new game releases to go around.

I am not a fan of the heat. In fact I can't stand it. One of the major draw backs to living in South Louisiana is the heat and humidity. Temps are usually hovering around the 90-100 degree mark, and the humidity is just about 90-100%. This all combines together to give the feel that it is about 140 degrees outside. In fact, it just may be. Official temperature is taken in the shade, but I once put a thermometer out in our yard. Needless to say, it broke after it passed 120 degrees.

The other good thing is the game releases. For some strange reason there are usually no really good games that come out in the summer. You would think they would, with lots of kids being out of school, but there aren't. And then once we start getting into the winter months there is a flood of new releases. Among them I am looking for Scarface, the new Destroy All Humans, the new GTA for PSP, and the all mighty launch of the PS3 and its good looking launch titles. I don't know if I will have the cash to cover it all.

So summer is over and the games are finally starting to hit shelves. The PS3 is looking really good right now and I have my money ready to get it. Thats all for now.

USB troubles

The problems with my computer are continuing. Since it is a 1997 model, it doesn't have as many USB ports as I need. With my mouse, Internet, and printer running off of USB and with only 2 ports in the back it gets a little troubling. We had bought a splitter for it, but after only about 3 months only one port on the splitter was reading anything that it plugged up. We got a new one today, and now I have pretty much everything plugged up and working. But I have a feeling that its only a matter of time before the whole computer just blows up or craps out.

In some very good news me and my parents are chipping in on a new computer. It's going to be a while before we can get it because we are in the process of renovating the house (which isn't cheap). But one day we will have a new one.

Back to School

It still doesn't really feel like its time to go back to me. But it is. I start school tomorrow, and what a dreaded Monday this has been. No longer can I sleep till 11:00 in the morning. No longer can I log on at my leisure and check the news at gamespot and post on the Mercs 2 official boards. Like it always happened I will eventually grow apart from everything online. I will be reduced to posting like I do on these boards (one or two a week).

I hate going back. It makes me feel like a prisoner. It's the same thing every day. Get up at 7:00, be at school for 7:45, ride the bus home (that's a whole other post). It almost drives me mad after 6 months. But I have to do it. All in the pursuit of a higher education....

Its that time again...

Well this applies to two things, one being the ever so hated school, and the other being GTA fever.

Lets start off with the bad news first. School is getting ready to start, and I could not hate it more. Even thought it will be nice to see some friends I don't feel like going back. I have gotten a little spoiled for sleeping late and doing nothing. I also have two books to read in 2 weeks for summer reading, the worst thing ever. They give us 3 crappy books to chose from and we have to read them over the summer and take a test on them when we get back. I guess I better get started.

Now for the good news. It's GTA season again, this time with the release of GTA: Vice City Stories. One of my most anticipated games, Its coming out this October. I loved the PS2 gta, my favorite one of all time, and now I can put all of Vice City into my pants. Lots of great improvements over LCS and even the PS2 version are starting to make me drool for this game.

That's all for this entry. My next one will probably be when I start school in a couple weeks.
