Darkwatch: a really good rental

well i just finished playing through Darkwatch, Capcoms new cowboy-vampire FPS. i was pretty impressed with it. it is perfect for a rental if you want a day or two of fun. the graphics are good (even on the PS2 version that i played), it has a ton of action although it does get a little repetitive, the weapons are very well done (each weapon has some kind of blade attached to it, making for excellent melee attacks), they have location specific damage and you can shoot off the limbs of your enemies and they will keep coming after you. the story was pretty good. it me interested and wasnt overly complicated. they had an awesome level that involved driving a "coyote steamwagon", a steam powered combat vehicle with two automated gatling guns on the top. it broke up all of the FPS action which was welcome.

the only negative things are that the game is to short. it only takes about 10 hours to play through the main story mode. but there are two endings which will have gamers going back and trying to see the second ending. you choose your ending by your actions throughout the game. ever so often you will be presented with a choice of being good or evil in a certain situation. choosing to be good will give you one ending, while choosing to be evil will give you another. it adds a bit of length but the game should have been longer from the beginning. they had plenty of opportunities in the story to add some extra missions but they didnt.

overall it was a solid action filled FPS that was just a little to short. i think this game would have been near perfect if they would have priced it around $30 instead of $50. i give it a 7.5/10.

in other news ive been pretty bored. school is starting to get very, very boring and i cant wait for weekends to come so i can sleep late. right now im trying to get Mercenaries and Metal Gear Solid 3: snake eater for under 30 bucks. i had seen MGS: 3 in a sale paper for 17.99 but i waited to late and it went back to its normal price of $30.

im still anticipating Gun since it is the only game that has me interested coming out before Q1 2006. ive really gotten tired of people putting down the scarface game when they dont know a single thing about it. if they dont have anything nice to say, dont say it at all. waiting for the godfather is getting boring also. they havent released any new info in 2 months and the godfather board has turned into a flame war between hoo_rider and sigo over that whole venivedivichi mess. its really sad.

well thats all for this entry. i hope things get moving again.

my updated impressions of Gun

i have just seen a new trailer entitled "Law and Order" on www.gametrailers.com that looked awesome. since the last few screens and trailers it looks like they have really tightened up the graphics. the game looks awesome and everything seems to be running smoth. the horse riding looked very fluid, and so did the combat. you can switch from 3rd to first person during combat, but i doubt that i will be doing that because i rather 3rd person shooters. the game has great blood effects, especially when you are scalping someone and they are still alive.

the enviorments look spectaculer. the game is supposed to have a pretty big playing area, and i cant wait to explore every inch of it. you can hunt out in the woods for either a side mission or just when you are freeromeing, and this is probably my favorite feature. for the first few days when i get this game i wont even do any missions. i will just ride around hunting to my hearts content. then i will try out the gold mining, since that is my second favorite feature so far. it will be intresting to see how Neversoft will pull this off, since mining dosent seem likely in a video game. after that i will play through some missions, unlock some more of the map, and get my hands on some of the unique and rare guns that will be featured in the game. theres just so many side missions in this game that i dont know where i will get the time to play them all since i am in school.

i cant wait for this game, especially since it is only one of a few that look good to me coming out this holiday season. i just hope they wont try to delay it.

Huricane Katrina: Aftermath

well let me begin from where i lewft off in my last entry.

about 4:30 the next day my mom amd dad decided to evacuate because the storm didnt look like it was going to turn and miss us. so we packed up the camper and by 5:00 we were on the road to Lake Charles (normaly a 2 hour trip) where we had found a camp ground to stay in. and by 1:00 the next morning we were there. the trafic with people leaving was just horrible. it took forever to get there. well the next morning after the storm had passed we left to go home. 2 and a half hours later we were right on the outskirts of houma. passing through, i noticed that there wasnt any real bad damage to anything. they had alot of giant oak trees down and very few power lines knocked down.

when we got home our house was completely fine. we had just put a new roof on so there wasnt a single shingle missing. but our shed in the back was a different story. we had quite a few shingles missing and me dad decided that it was finally time to put the metal roof on it that we wanted to put on for a while.

the power was off for a while. it just came on last night about at about 9:00. i was so happy. those cold shower were starting to aggrivate me. well now everythings is back to the way it was so now i can get back to posting on gamespot like i usally do. one good thing came out of all of this. they postponed school until after labor day so right now im on a small vacation.

Huricane Katrina

well it looks official. Huricane Katrina is coming right up my alley, and me and my parents are riding it out. me and my dad started boarding up the house today. my mom went out and stocked up on dry goods and water, and we filled every gas can in the house. we have the generator ready to go. the storm looks like it will hit us about monday afternoon. it is possible that it could turn a little more and miss houma by alot, but nothing is sure except for its coming here. were in a pretty high area so we dont have to worry to much about flooding, but right now its the wind.

i hope this isnt another betsy. betsy came right up the miss. river and caused terrible damage. i saw some old home videos that were shot after betsy, and it looked like an atom bomb went off. everything was in ruins. even worse than betsy was the infamous camille. that huricane took everything but the cement slabs. my dad rode that one out in lockport when he was young.

well if anyone notices that im not on for a while, its probably because the power went out. god i hope this storm dosent tear up the new roof we just put on our house.

saw the dukes... and actually liked it

well i finally got around to seeing the dukes of hazzard movie the other day, and i actually liked it. i think the movie really pulled of the modern day dukes setting well. it had plently of humor, just like the original show, and had a lot of car chases and jumps just like the oringinal show (something that i love in a movie).

being a big dukes fan, seeing them change boss hogg to a evil villain, changing rosco from a bumbling fool to a serious enemy, and changing the boys from cool and calculating to fools was a bit upsetting. they didnt really try to follow the original shows values either. but i kinda liked the change. and the modern day setting was kind of nice too.

IMO they did an awesome job with the general lee and all of the car chases and jumps. the movie made the general look like a performance machine that delivered in an instant. it made me fall in love with that car all over again. all of the sliding around, burning out, and jumping over obstacles really represented the original general well.

in all, i think they could have done a better job on the casting, but i like it and will probably get it for my PSP when it comes out.

Gun

GUN is a third person freerome wildwest shooter that is looking really good. its coming out in november so i think i will get it to have something to play while waiting for the godfather, scarface: the world is yours, and hitman contracts.

the graphics are looking really good on it. them really did the old west justice. there is supposed to be a massive area to freerome in. everything from old west town to canyons and caves. i love the old guns (revolvers, repeting rifles, shotguns, etc., etc.). there is supposed to be allot of missions in which you do everything from shoot outs to helping black foot indians attack a fort. and one really neat feature, you can take scalps! once you kill a man you can take his scalp and add it to your collection. sounds intresting. there are a ton of minigames in which you can increase you skills. everything from hunting for food to panning for gold.

this game is really shaping into something that i like and i am keeping a eye out for it. its coming November 1 so its not that far away. well at least not as far as the godfather.

level 6

finally reached level 6. now i can do just about everything on this site (except for the gamespot complete stuff).

new sig

got to give a big thanks to Hoo_Rider on my new sig. finally i have something that i really like and can keep for as long as i am on these boards. even if i do go to another site i will still use the same name and sig. finally, i have a nice one.

Typical polititions

well last night i stayedd up late reading in my godfather novel to try to get it finished. at 12:00 i turned my TV to G4 tv and started wacthing it instead of reading. at 12:30 G4 TV.com came one and they were talking about the whole "hot coffee" controversy. of course this got my attention and i started to wacth closely. they talked about it for a while amongst themselves and then had a guy from a videogame store and talked to him to see if the controversy increased the demand for the game. of course he said yes.

but their next guess on the show supprised me a little. it was californa senater Yee (cant remeber his first name but he is an antigame activist). he was talking about the controversy and how he would like to see stricter game ratings and so on. but then one of the girls asked him if he was a gamer and if he had played any of the games he was atacking. and his answer was: no he is not a gamer and has never played GTA: SA or any other game.

now how can he attack a game he knows nothing about? its very typical of the polititions today to attack something without full knowledge of it. if senater Yee would have played this game he would have noticed that it is not that serious. they think that this is a real life simulater and teaches kids to kill. but un fact this is nothing but a joke game with very good gameplay.

but of course most of the polititions are try to make themselves look good. they dont care about there comunities they represent. if they would they would not constantly be giving themselves raises.

d@mn the whole hot coffee thing!

this whole hot coffee thing is starting to really get on my nerves. all these people who are saying saying stupid things like "its only polygons" or "since when is violence worse than sex" are really getting on my nerves. Hentai is just a drawing and its considered pornographic. why? because it depicts people having sex. same as this game. and violence is an every day part of life. there are T rated games with tons of violence. but the materials here are pornographic, and according to law you have to be 18 to see pornographic materials legally. you cant get these fan boys to see the facts. for every intelligent one there are at least 200 idiots. trying to tell them the facts is like banging your head on a brick wall. they just wont except the facts.

Fact: the sexual acts in the Hot Coffee scenes are categorized as "pornographic"

Fact: you have to be 18 to legally watch porn.

Fact: the games rating before said that 17 year olds and anyone with there parents consent can buy the game.

Fact they changed the rating to AO (18 and up) so it legal.

its a simple as that but they just wont except it.
