@horndizz: If you haven't already, do yourself a favor and play the Sonic Rush titles for the original DS (particularly the first). These, in my opinion, were a perfect marriage of the old and new models of Sonic games and probably Sega's best efforts since the Genesis.
Can't see how overworld exploration, side quests, or materia hunting is going to work in an episodic format. It's sounding more and more like the confirmation of what I feared they would do with this remake (i.e. A slideshow of the major story points lacking the world-building and quirkiness of the original). Not giving up hope, but I've abandoned my hype from yesterday's trailer.
Launch game syndrome at its most transparent: shallow, repetitive gameplay wrapped in a gorgeous package. Anyone remember "The Bouncer?" No? Maybe, "Genji: Days of the Blade?" I thought not... Welcome to the party, Ryse.
Crisis? The only thing about this story that's even close to a crisis is Fish's ego polluting the blogosphere. Incidentally, stories like this only serve to validate his already lofty sense of entitlement. Are gamers generally overly critical and reactionary to, when you break it down is nothing more than a hobby or toy? Absolutely. Does everyone at the receiving end of this criticism need to take it as a personal affront and make a public spectacle out of their feelings being hurt? No way. Fish is not teaching anyone a lesson by withholding his next effort; he's simply showing himself for what he is: a very spoiled kid.
You forgot just one series that needs a back-to-basics revival: Clock Tower. Imagine the terror of being pursued by Scissorman with the incredible visuals this generation could produce...
