Luckyily I have the insurance on my 780 Ti
I can return it and get these 980s for like 100 bucks. So i'll just wait for the benchmarks to drop
TTL and Linus have benchmarks up.
When's the release date on these cards?
.....TODAY!! But, yeah, they've already been released, but I heard they sold out on newegg in seconds. The 780 and 780ti are being discontinued and replaced, and the 960 is set to come out in October. The 970 is your best bet: GK110-like performance for a little over $300. They also lowered the 760 down to $219. Fucking insane! Gotta love PC gaming. It's the day we always waited for...the day we get Titan-like performance at a mid-range price.
I love you Cfisher, you're one of my favorite SWers always answer questions and talking about games with such postivity!
Question, I recently built a new rig.... it has a 780Ti in it don't remember the exact model it may bc Oc'd not sure.
Now if I could essentially upgrade for free ( I shop at microcenter, if you buy the insurance you essentially get a gift card for the full price of the item when you bring it back "defective" lol. I payed around 700 for the 780Ti in June) is it worth the hassle to just replace from the 780Ti to the 980?
From what I've seen in benchmarks, no. The 980 is performing better than the 780ti when at stock settings, but Linus always goes with manually overclocked GPUs in their tests, and he found that a thoroughly overclocked 780ti still performs better than an overclocked 980. However, the 980 uses quite a bit less power.
