For general computer use: AMD, as I never experience display driver crashes, unlike my old 560ti with the Nvidia drivers, which would randomly crash every so often.

Nvidia tends to have better driver support within games, whereas AMD can take forever to update their drivers to make a game more playable. Nvidia also has an annoying habit of making all their partnered games run like horseshit on AMD hardware, and thus you have to wait a few months until AMD is able to patch shit out. Price to performance though, you really can't beat AMD until you're getting into the GTX 970 territory, where buying Nvidia actually makes sense. Oh, and colors are significantly more vibrant on AMD at default display driver settings (with Nvidia you need to tweak the contrast and shit to make it not seem washed out).

It's hard for me to choose between it and Grimrock 2. Gamespot will probably choose Bayonetta 2 though; it's a far shorter game to play, which means more people at their offices will have likely spent time with it.

I assume those are the specs necessary to max it out completely at 1080p/60fps. It's not really that unexpected, as I would assume they'll be adding quite a few Nvidia PhysX style effects, HBAO+, and TXAA. I very much doubt maxed out PC ultra will be what the consoles run--it hasn't been the case with just about ANY game released lately. Not to mention, when does this come out, like late 2015? Shit'll be crazy cheap by then. We're already getting 780 performance at the $300 range. It won't be long until AMD releases their new GPUs, which will cause a price war.

It's a hell of a lot easier to play Divinity OS with a beer in your hand than it is to play Inquisition. Point Divinity.

The god rays on PS4 are NOT the same god-rays on PC. On PC they are volumetric and tessellated. They actually are fully dynamic and light the scene properly and realistically. They are pretty awesome.

They are also NONE of those thing son PS4. The PS4 version is the standard "flare" effect when looking directly at the sun through geometry like trees. So this has nothing to do with Nvidia.

It's either a bug, or the poor crappy PS4 just can't handle even last gen god-rays :p

Yeah, I wouldn't even really consider these god rays. It's a minor effect that only occurs when looking directly at the sun. Hardly comparable to the PC version's god rays, which I would point out also runs great on AMD hardware. I am honestly surprised they couldn't even get the volumetric fog type god rays running on the next gen consoles as it barely dents my framerate whatsoever.

Now why the **** hasn't the Legend of Grimrock II been brought up!? Wasteland 2 was also great, even if it didn't really pick up until the second half, but by god, that second half was strong! How can we seriously have a discussion about the best RPG of the year without mentioning these?

I'd probably go with Divinity over Dragon Age myself, but granted, I haven't played Dragon Age and I don't intend to; I wasn't impressed by any of the DA games, and from what the codex has said, Inquisition is filled with too much MMO-like filler. Say what you will about Divinity, but one thing you can't deny, and that's that it bears no resemblance to the WoW-style MMO bullshit that seems to bog down Inquisition just like it bogged down Kingdoms of Amalur. Also, considering the combat is the really the most important element of an RPG, you gotta go with Divinity; best turn-based RPG combat EVER.

I played the first one a bit. It was amusing for a while. My nephews fucking loved it though. The new one looks quite a bit more interesting, so I'll probably pick it up when it's 75% off.

I got myself an SSD, the Corsair Force LX 256Gb for $85 after mail in rebate from Newegg. Should be here Monday--can't wait!

Here's a link if anyone wants to get the same deal. It doesn't have the best write speeds until you get the 512Gb version, but its read speeds (which are more important) are better than many of the highest end SSDs on the market.

what is this Divinity game and how come I never heard of it?

Divinity Original Sin is an isometric turn-based RPG with over 70hrs of content, all of which can be played co-op or solo. It currently has a metacritic rating avg of 87 (it's amazing), is a GOTY contendor on Gamespot, and the likely reason you've never heard of it is because it's a PC exclusive that is very, very unlikely to ever be released on consoles (the controls and the way you interact with the world would have to be thoroughly revamped), so it didn't get a ton of attention from sites like IGN.

It's 20% atm on steam , and it's also available on GOG if you don't like DRM.
