Are you connected to a router? If so, login to that and check to see who's connected, it's the easiest way. Any MAC addresses you don't recognize, then boot 'em and then tighten up your security on the router. Some routers have MAC filtering where you can specify MAC addresses that can connect. If the MAC doesn't match, no connection is possible even if the password is cracked.
Also check for updates on your software and do a malware scan. Might want to rebuild your TCP/IP stack as well (could be corrupted): netsh int ip reset c:\whatevername.txt at the cmd prompt.
If the problem is on the univ. level though, your university servers' etc. could be the problem. Their infrastructure setup would have to be very fubar for your pc to mess up the university's inet, I'm guessing.
