Ok,

I'm going to look into it and if I find a way or find out that it's all in vain, I'll post my findings here either way.

Hello,

Thanks in advance for any help I get on this. I didn't have broadband internet on my 360 until almost a year after buying it. As a result, I always played with an offline account. When I went to go online, my new gamer account doesn't have any of the saves or achievements that my offline account had.

So my question is, is it possible to migrate that offline account with my new online one? Thanks!

Are you having trouble getting in your case period or trying to clean your case fan in some way? I swear certain cases can be really hard to get into. Check your case thoroughly around the top and sides to see if you have a lever or screws etc. holding it in. Lots of times fans can get real noisey because cabling gets caught in the fan, but if you've never cracked the case before, that probably isn't likely.

I wouldn't use superfetch if you don't have anything totalling greater than 2 GB of memory or anything lesser than the equivalent of 2 GB of memory. LOL.

I love newegg's prices, website, and quick shipping. They even sent me a free t-shirt and hat for buying so much stuff from them after leaving a testimonial. I value newegg above everyone. That being said, I had a terrible time with their customer service once over a simple question regarding a software title. Even the best at what they do aren't always perfect. I still sympathesize with your experience. I think everyone goes through something like it at some point if you buy enough stuff, but it doesn't make the experience anymore enjoyable.

i dont consider it as an upgrade but going to lets say HD4850 or HD4870

now thats an upgrade but ofcourse you need to buy an PSU but still its worth it .

ROCKINGFOOL

I have an 8600GT and while it's not that great of a card, it certainly trumps an 8400.

In regards to your question Neobrio, if you have a quad core with 3 gigs of ram and a couple drives and a system fan and multiple other cards etc., I'd be afraid to try an 8600 with a 300 watt PSU. However, the 8600's don't draw that much power in all honesty. If your current rig is running fine with the 8400, you may just be able to squeek by. Key word there being may. You can buy cheap PSUs that put out enough power for your needs for fairly cheap nowadays though (mind you they won't hold a candle to a nice name brand one), so you may consider the upgrade on the PSU in addition to say a used 8600, to stay within your budget.

As a side note, I wouldn't dare buy a used PSU. They are too volatile and new ones are cheap enough to never warrant going the used route on a PSU. Hope this helps! :D

I use the Franklin CDU-680 modem through Millenicom's service which utilizes the Sprint Cellular Data Network. I get pings around 200 ms and I don't have the 5gb cap that Verizon places (I switched from Verizon once they started enforcing the cap as my bandwith usage runs quite high). 200ms is very playable. I use it over Xbox Live and my PC in fps and other type 'twitch' games and can still play competitively without atrocious lag.

The only thing though is that sometimes servers will boot you for having a ping around 200ms. Go to speedtest.net and see what your ping times are. If they're around the 100-200ms range, I'd be satisfied. However, if you have the option to use DSL or Cable, I'd go that route. If Verizon and Sprint cellular are your only two options, I'd consider Millenicom. If Verizon cellular is your only broadband option, then you really have no choice. Satellite ping times are worse than dial-up and dial-up pings = are you kidding me?

I think you will be pleasantly surprised though. I wish you pleasant fraggin in cyberspace!

since this is an router thread issue i wanted to ask something , does the router effect the internet settings or xbox live settings? like if i bought an lynksis or netgear router would i be getting better results? [ btw my router is speedtouch ]XxSTILL_BORNxX

The wireless router is going to act as the transmitter of the wireless signal. You can do more with a nice feature-rich and pricey router, but typically the performance gains can be quite negligible given the boundaries of whatever wireless signal you're working with, be it A, B, G, N, etc. In direct answer to your question, it affects the internet which in turn would affect xbox live.

If you're satisfied with your speedtouch, I'd stick with it.

*** Update: Setup network as Wireless G on the first available channel and have been gaming on Xbox Live smoothly. There was no need to utilize Wireless A. ***

Hey guys,

Thanks in advance for any help I may receive on this. I'm considering using Wireless G with my Xbox 360. I have an Assent Wireless MBR400 router that is hooked up to a Franklin CDU-680 Sprint Wireless CDMA modem. I don't mean to bore you guys with all these technical details, but they may help you in answering my question, but sorry if they seem confusing.

Basically, to anyone not familiar: the Franklin CDU-680 is the default CDMA (like a wireless type like Verizon and Sprint use for cell phones) modem that is used to convert a wireless data signal into something useful for the internet. I use Millenicom as my ISP. I get pings as low as the 150ms range and as high as 400ms. My downloads are around 1mbps and upload is around 250 kbps. It's not the best in the world for gaming, but as I live in a rural area, my only other broadband option is satellite and giving the cap and poor pings and high cost, it's really not even a considerable option to me.

Anyways, I'm wondering about using wireless g with the wga54ag adapter from Linksys. I have two wireless controllers for my 360, but I'm not sure about the exact ~2.4GHz spectrum frequency range that it uses. Does anyone know the specific channel? If I can find that out, I may be able to configure my router to use a diff. channel and maybe there won't be much interference. Or at least I'm hoping.

If I do go the wireless a route, what are the disadvantages of this? Thanks again!
