So I said I would have a rant comic posted and the second teaser posted and obviously that will not be coming to fruition. Now I'm not trying to get into the mind set of online comic creators who already have their comics out there (meaning the bloody B******* who cronicly post late or sometimes not at all). No, because that's not what I do, when my site begins on the 18th what I plan on doing is having many of the chapters done in advance and just posting them week by week. Well that's neither here nor there, now I'm just dodging the point...
I said I would get those two items done this weekend and I did not, why? Cuz I was sick, and yes, I know I said I'm not one to let sickness bring me down, but it's more than just sickness. Waking up at 4 in the morning each day this weekend to be at work at 6, didn't really help on top of the head cold, which I might add was one of those that makes one wake up feeling like they just had the s*** beat out of them during the night. Now I don't mean to complain but it is rather draining.
Since I wasn't going to be working on the comic I had the opportunity to see an old friend who I hadn't had the chance to see in a very long time, which is dumb because I now find him to be one of my great friends...but I'll get to that in a bit. We went to see Forgetting Sarah Marshall and it was f****** amazing! IMO it was better than Wedding Crashers (yup, I went there). why would I say such a thing? Well I think at one point the laughs just stopped coming in wedding crashers (which kind of defies the point of a COMEDY wouldn't ya think?) and it's ending is rather ridiculous, like it just wouldn't happen in real life. Well, Sarah Marshall keeps the laughs flowing the whole way through and the ending is believable and hilarious. Go see it, it is probably the best way to kick off the summer.
*skip this next paragraph if you don't give a flying **** about my life, and continue on to the Crisis Core Review*
Now in a paragraph or two this post is going to turn into a review (or maybe a rant?) about Crisis Core, but first I have one more point to get to, why do I call the afformentioned friend great? Well sometimes I think I'm going Bat S*** Crazy; why would I think such a thing? Well, because the thoughts I have and things I come up with for the Book Series, ARE NOT NORMAL. I have come up with things for the book like weapon concepts, a completely new and revolutionary Government System, Social System, and Economic System; all of which are very possible in theory (of course I'm trying to give the book, that 'oh snap this bull**** could happen!' vibe). I have thoughts that quite literally, blow my mind; like, i have to sit down because I'm dizzy. So, back to the point, i was speaking with my buddy about this and I was reminded of something. The true reason why I'm doing this, and he said to me, that is the furthest thing from butt f****** insane.
One last thing on the life update, I finally purchased Lupe Fiasco's the cool, which is amazing, not as good as I had expected but it is amazing none the less, and I'm not the biggest hip-hop fan in the world...Timm, I figured you'd be proud and buddy, if you haven't read my previous blog read it, because there is something so f****** hilarious that it made me cry for about a whole hour...but why make you scroll: Zero Punctuation
*Begin Crisis Core Review*
Seeing as how I was feeling under the weather, I thought it wouldn't hurt to pick up a game since I haven't gamed in awhile. So, obviously, I picked up Crisis Core. Now, IMO it is NOT the best game for the PSP, the best game is GOW:COO, but it ranks up a close second. But that's just an opinion and beside the point, even though my PSP has been giving me the most gaming entertainment and variety of all my systems as late; I had reservations about picking it up. Why?! because it is the prequal to FFVII, where you play as Zack; ya know, Zack that friendly fellow from Seven that made Cloud become what he is today (eerr, as far as today goes in FFVII)
Yup that friendly chap^
Wait, isn't there something about him we're supposed to remember? Oh yea, he's that guy who f****** died, and he didn't just die like "Help, I've fallen and I can't get up!". He gets stabbed, many times, by Sephiroth, who is the man he looked up to greatly. If you think this game can end well, I'd like to ask you to stop shoving your thumb up your nose, and instead shove it up your *** and come back down to reality. This game can not end well, not only are you playing the main character who will inevitably f****** die, but all of his friends and everyone you meet who was not in VII, will probably f****** die too! Not peacefully either, it will probably be gruesome, or depressing, inevitably leading to the dark and gloomy end. Wait though there's good news! Every time you get a game over you get a satisfied feeling of accomplishment, like you beat the game early!
I guess Square could end it well if they through in advent children's almost cheery ending...no wait, that guy you'll probably spend over 15 hours of game play developing, IS STILL DEAD! I don't think it will help to hold back an inevitable tear at the end either since square decided to make Zack a very cheery and upbeat bloke much like Sora:
Yes, Sora, so if you think about Sora being murdered brutally, then there probably isn't much way to end this without at least one tear even if your an emotionless sack of wine, now is there?
Yet, none of this can really hinder Crisis Core from being a good game. If you know the ending then you'll be somewhat prepped for it, and seeing as how most people who will play the game, have played the original, there should be no problem moving on to the rest of the review. Crisis Core is an amazing and addictive game, and overall I give it a big:
9.5
Crisis Core is an incredible game for the PSP that has kept me addicted without putting it down for the few things like school, food, taking a poo, and this. So far I've put in 12 hours and I don't think I'm even half way done.
The battle system might be a button masher at times but it's lots of fun, and it gives you freedom of movement with the ability to dodge and block much like FFXII, but this one is better IMO. One major flaw to the game play mechanic I found was the leveling system. This is because it is as far off from a LEVELING SYSTEM as it can get. You literally level up at random, literally playing a game of slots. Now sometimes this can be handy, like when I leveled up 5 times in a row in only ten minutes, but more often than not it's extremely aggravating like when I went without leveling up for about an hour and a half; during which I encountered one of the toughest bosses in the game. So, I find it incredibly lame, even though in retrospect, it works.
If you want to let the fact that the main character will inevitably f****** die stop you from playing this game, go right ahead, but your missing out. Though it's sad, in a way I find that it helps to think that that is how life goes. We're all playing the roles of a main character who will inevitably be f****** killed. Some of us will be ended by age or by disease, but some of us could be murdered just like our favorite hero. So in a sense Crisis Core is only portraying the ever present and constant fact of life. So while your alive, or while Zack is alive, both of you should live it up...get it?
FFVII: Crisis Core will give loads of play time to anyone who loves the final fantasy series or anyone who is an avid PSP fan. Now i won't be the first to admit it, but rather ill be one to join millions in saying, the PSP is not the greatest system in the world; in fact at times, as a gaming system, it blows. Yet, if it keeps having games made for it like GOW, FF, R&C, Daxter, and the few other great games that have come out for it lately; Nintendo will find a worthy rival on there hands for portable gaming.
I'll have the Teaser and the Comic posted within a week...
