Since you didn't specify it, I'll only mention that most WIFI cards, especially intel, will install their own WiFi manager that supersedes the built-in windows utility. Are you sure you checked the right WIFI Manager?
Also, is the Wireless Zero-Config service on?
If Intel Wireless Manager (I think its still called Proset) is installed, try removing it - you can modify the installation to remove Proset without removing the actual driver.
If you have a standard Windows XP installation disc, you can attempt a repair installation by booting off the CD. Choose to Setup Windows (not the Recovery Console) - the setup program should find your existing Windows installation IF the hard drive is still OK. At that point, choose the option to repair Windows. This will not erase the data on your drive.
If the repair installation fails, you'll probably have to format the drive and install Windows from scratch. Then you WILL lose your data if you don't attempt to back it up first.
Well, one of the reviewers said his Sonata II case (one rear fan) the card was stayed cool enough to function stably. That's probably the closest indicator that it should be alright in yours.
[QUOTE="markop2003"]Sound like it's corrupt, if the boot was setup wrongly it should ask you to insert a disk or if it's really wrong just a completely blank screen. It could be a virus though it may be your drive is just old and is on it's last legs. If it's corrupt all you can do is reload it, no antivirus will help you there.Trmpt
So all I have to do is reinstall the OS? Will that cause any loss of data?
The reason for this is becaus Neither Windows Vista NOR windows XP will run my old games
Specs Amd Athlon XP 2600+
atleast 256MB Ram
20 Gig HDD
and i cant decide on either a Nvidia G Force MX 440 AGP 64MB or a Nvidia G Force FX 5200 128 MB PCI
thoughs?

I agree with above - its rather unusual for a game to work in 2000 and not XP, the two are very closely related. Of the two cards, I'd probably go with the FX5200, just because it is the (slightly) superior card. In most of those games, though, I doubt it matters THAT much.
I have copies of XP and I could change the CPU easily to the athlon x2 245 dual core 2.7 $60

Yes that would be a better idea and please make sure that the XP is legit
With knowing this might lead to 5 or more days of moderation, I am stunned and I ask you why would you say such a thing? You can get a free windows 7 that will be miles better than XP and you won't pay for it, and the funcionality will be the same except windows upgrade or something which barely who uses.
Windows 7 RC would be fine if the OP was building it for personal use, but the intent here is to resell. And loading an OS that will limit itself in 6 months and eventually become unusable won't be good for reputation or business.
Why not install the service pack on the install you already put down, then just use Gparted to expand the partition to fill the remaining unused space? I might be unclear about what you're getting at there.
Look for the "Network Installation" service pack installs - they're pretty big (250-350MB) and not likely to confuse with the online update versions. You can put them on CD/USB stick (whatever) and pop them in your friends computer.
Just FYI, you need to install Service Pack 2 before you can install Service Pack 3. For the purpose of fixing the 130GB size issue, only SP2 is absolutely needed.
