Laptops are just as susceptible to dust clogging up the heatsinks, exhaust, etc. Also, if this is a premium laptop (Alienware, Voodoo, Sager, etc) with topline processors, multiple HDDs, and graphics - better get used to it, these laptops squeeze high power and high heat parts into barely enough airflow. Might want to invest in a cooling pad?

And not to mention I wouldn't have to share the computer with my sisters:P

r-teest

For the last 8 years, consumer versions of Windows (XP, Vista) have had a handy password feature which prevents people that you don't want using it from doing so. :P

Might need to grab some compressed air and do some cleaning. Your CPU is reaching almost 70C, which is not good.

A quick Google of "Bad System Config" returns a lot of result about the system RAM possibly being bad.

1) If your system has 2 RAM modules installed, try removing one and running the system on just one module at a time

2) Download and run MemTest86

3) If all else fails, copy all your critical files (docs, pictures, etc) to the external drive and do a complete system wipe.

I also have no idea what the "combo" is you are referring to.

JigglyWiggly_

The Combo, from what I could parse, is an attempt to pair the Geforce 2 for Direct3D games with a Voodoo 2 for Glide optimized games (think Unreal 1 and Unreal Tournament).

Although I agree with the above, you can stick a PCIe 1x video card into that 4x slot. I have done the same before with a 1x PCIe RAID card in a 4x PCIe slot.

Have you tried loading up Win98SE with ONLY the Geforce 2 card installed (yank out TV tuner, Sound Blaster, etc.)? Wouldn't surprise me the least to find out one or more of those cards aren't playing nice together.

What, if any, programs/games have you installed? I know Unreal Tournament 3 lays down some PhysX files regardless of the presence of appropriate hardware.

But, its a bit confusing there is ata, ata-6, pata, ide and Im not completly sure which one would work.

They're all basically the exact same thing. As long as you get a drive that is labeled one of those - and it can be any of them as long as its not SATA - you'll be fine. The extra 4 pins aren't used at all.
