Microsoft made the right decisions. First of all they don't really have much invested in HDDVD so it's not like if HDDVD wins MS is going to make a lot of money. Then you have to look at the fact that HDDVD would have raised the price of the 360 and possibly delayed it.
Sony made the mistake IMO. Yes Blu-Ray is a superior format but it made the price of the PS3 rediculously high and delayed the launch.
[QUOTE="LordMe"][QUOTE="Hoshslatz"]We need to realize that even though microsoft had the jumpstart this gen, the PS3 outlasts the 360 in the future years, microsoft is gonna have to put up another console in order to stay in the race.Jamie_1987
That is very true. The 360 is a powerfull console. But the Processer and the DVD9's are gonna kill it.
I did some calculating online about games and just take a look at this.
Early Xbox = Halo 1 = 613.43 MB
Late Xbox = Ninja Gaiden Black = 4.31 GB
Xbox 360
Early = Dead or Alive 4 = 7.05 GB
MAX storage for a DVD9 = 8.5 GB
Xbox games grew 4x largers from launch to close to end...
The 360 cannot grow 4x larger in its games. Sure it has alot a raw power, however MS overlooked disk space. And that is gonna hit them hard in another year or two.
so why not just use two cd's? unless people are to lazy to walk 5 feet from there couch to there 360.
Yeah I can never figure out what people's problems are when it comes to the "Blu-ray is so superior it's gonna make PS3 win for sure!". Sure Blu-Ray is a vastly superior optical storage format over DVD-9 no question. But it's not like 360 games are stuck on 1 dvd. Oh wow, you have to change a disc every 20 hours or so (on RPGs) is it really that big of a deal? We all loved FF7 and that was on multiple discs.
Price and game selection...tryfe_lyn
Not only did you choose HUGE things (that make or break a console) you choose 2! LOL don't be greedy!!
If I could change 1 thing, it'd be the price (lower of course). Don't give me "It's worth it" or "Save up". Trust me I can save money, I have the money, but in order for me to spend money, I must justify it, and I can't yet.
I don't have time to review the whole article. But is the 360 version 1080p at 60fps, or is it 720p only at 60fps. The PS3 is 30fps at 1080p I know for sure. And even if the 360 did 1080p at 60fps, my 360 has no HDMI and I have no way of doing 1080p on my tv besides HDMI. So the question is, which would look better on a 65inch 1080p tv, 1080p at 30fps or 720p at 60fps in my case.

You don't understand how HDTV works, when you say that the PS3 is 30fps at 1080p that is wrong, the p in 1080p means progressive, which means 60fps, the i in 1080i means interlace and that means 30fps. So if a game can only run at 30fps that means it cannout do 1080p
Perhaps it's a hybrid AV/Component cable? If so ignore the yellow wire and only use the the other ones.I just bought a new component cable. I just noticed that it had 6 pins instead of 5. i bought a component cable for my ps2 a year or 2 back and it had 5 pins. but whats up with this 6 pin component cable ? i only have 5 slots for the wire , where do i put the 6th one? or is there a 5 pin component cable also?
Help me out , thanks
