[QUOTE="chembro84"]Is this really good news? 4M shipped 1.5M sold? That means 2.5M are sitting there pissing off retailers. , even if it counts the 1M for Europe that means for half the PS3s in the world are sitting in regions where they are available, unsold.eclipsed4utoo
and until better games come out, they will continue to sit there. But March is going to be a big month.

no doubt that they will sell, I'm just pointing out, for a system that just launched, have 2.5M unsold and 1.5M sold, isn't good news to put on a forum with all sorts of !!!! and cheering.

I hate it when people tell Europe not to complain, would you complain if: You got it 3 months later It cost $200 more It wasn't nearly-100% BC like the other versions Or would you just go "Eh, I'm European, I should be used to this"?

[QUOTE="Vampyronight"][QUOTE="chembro84"]Only a true fanboy could spin the fact that the promised feautre of nearly 100% bc has been replaced for Europeans with a solution that will not work nearly as well, and say it's a good thing. They are paying more money for a system that does less things. I'm sure many people traded in their PS2 for a down-payment for the PS3, and now they are totally screwed. You think that's a good thing? I traded in my Xbox for the 360 and I was pissed later when I found out how few games it truly would play. it costs too much money for console companies to continually add support for old games. I'm pissed MS did it that way, and it's complete BS that SOny did it. edit: And why the hell do you care if Sony saves money? They took out an advertised feature to save a few bucks because they made the thing WAY too much in the first place (and yes I know it is "worth" the $600, but regardless $600 is too much for a console, and they are loosing a crap load of money on each one sold because of the Blu-Ray drive)

Your proof that the solution won't work nearly as well? You do realize the reason MS has had such problems with BC is because they didn't "own" the hardware before- they purchased it, but they don't have access to all the technicals like Sony does. That's why the PS2 is 99% compatible with PS1 games now, even though the PS2 no longer has the same hardware. Furthermore, you completely neglected all the possible benefits of using software emulation that were discussed in this thread. How convenient... And it's a good thing if Sony saves money because eventually that can be passed down to the consumer. That doesn't do anything for current PS3 owners, but with price-cuts will come increased sales. And with increased sales, we'll see more games. Pretty simple.

My proof is the fact that Sony is saying it's not going to work too well, if it did they'd say "Have no fear, most games will work, you are getting an identical experience". Are they saying that? No. And you say eventually they will pass the savings onto the consumer, why aren't they now? They are obviously saving money, yet they are charging the same price, they are doing this because that thing is operating so far down in the red it's rediculous, it's damage control right now. When I buy my PS3 i will make sure to get me a US unit with PS2 hardware.

Crt hdtv only come in 1080i and still have the best picture quality to this day, but you cant find them over 40 inches.FootballGamer
There is such a thing as a progressive CRT, but they are kind of rare. Don't believe me? Remember that old CRT monitor you used to own before that fancy LCD you have now? That was progressive. :)

In this forum you're going to get whatever TV they (or most likely their parents) ended up buying but in terms of how i see it image quality goes: CRT (there are some issues of whether or not it's progressive, which most aren't, some are, really only matter in fast moving scenes) Plasma LCD DLP/LCD (Projection) CRT Projection That's not to say that it's the "best" in that order, CRT is not the best if you want a 65" screen, because they don't exist, DLP or LCD Projection would be your best bet. You have to look at the lighting conditions, size requirements, viewing distance, viewing angle(s), etc to find the TV that truly is the "best"

[QUOTE="maxmeatslap"]i think i may be getting a ps3 for my birthday in march, but i have a sdtv...will the games look like crap or will they look good.chubear700
Don't mind these trolls that spread lies and half truths. Your PS3 games will look better than anything you've played on your SDTV; but hey, you can get projection TVs at 27' to 30' with component or HDMI connections for like around $250. If you get an HDTV then, prepare to be blown away.

Where? Do you have any links for these TVs? That's in my price range :)

u cant download or play the demo till u pay for xblive.. so i dont see how this is slap in the facedavez82
Just to let you know, you can have a free version of live (Silver) and download all the demos you want for absolutely $0. Like I've said before, now you see why MS charges for it's online network, it is too expensive to provide a good online service like XBL for free, hence you have to pay $4 per month. It seems worth it once you realize everything you loose on the free PSN.
