better safe than sorry. some people live in areas where there are only a couple of places near by to get games, and demand sometimes out weighs supply.(especially with big titles like GTA) so to be sure you get your copy, you pre-order/ reserve the game. it's really simple. i don't understand why you are confused or don't know why people do it.

Yeah, I'm feeling the same way right now. I used to play only sports games when i had only a PS2, but i have been getting more and more into FPs,RPg, and all kinds of game since i have a 360. madden is really not appealing to me this year, but after they start hyping it up, i will break down and get it, because i am a huge football fan.
You can finish the game or a "playthrough" by just doing the main missions, but if you want the "Ally" achievements or any of the achievements that require you to play "a majority of the game" you need to do quite a few of the side missions.msdd9
Aside from the core mission you don't have to do anything. Playing the side missions and whatnot just makes the game that much deeper and allows you to tweak your characters more. Though it's simply up to you...snackdaddy
I was just wondering when and if I have to complete all the assignments to finish a playthrough. It just seems I don't have time to complete any of the "assignments" i'm too busy completing the missions. Can i complete a playthrough without doing the assignments, can I come back and finish the assignment after i complete the story? any recommendations or advice would be appreciated. thanks

Mass Effect is awsome. I bought if for about $20 on ebay. didn't like it much at first, but once i got into it i was like wow, i can't put the controller down, just want to see what is going to happen, and it is an awsome looking game (turn the film grain crap off). mass effect is one of the best games out right now for the 360.
