My first Elite froze with red rings after 12 hours. Rebooting did not help. Returned it and bought another one which has been working great for couple of months so far.

Similar story with my PS3 so I think they both have a fair share of defects.

Sony put in the PSP a firmware code to prevent us playing movie from the memory stick in full resolution (480 x 272) therefore the converted movies do not look good with lower resolution (typically at 320 x 240).

IfyoucangetgooddealonUMDmovieslikethissales ($4.99 for select movies at Gamestop) then get them:

On your PC name your share the same name as your PS3 machine name.

1) Launch Windows Media Player 11
2) Right Click the top bar and select Tools --> Options -> Select Library tab --> Configure Sharing -> Highlight Unknown Device and select Settings -> Enter Name of your PS3 in the box under "Share Media As" and save changes.

It should show up and allow access from your PS3.

okay so my ps3 detected my pc but when I try to connect to it it says "access to the media server is not allowed. It is possible that the system name fot this PS3 system has not been registered". Any idea what does it mean?Wlodar10

Here is one way to do it.  On your PC name your share the same name as your PS3 machine name.

1) Launch Windows Media Player 11
Right Click the top bar and select Tools --> Options -> Select Library tab --> Configure Sharing -> Highlight Unknown Device and select Settings -> Enter Name of your PS3 in the box under "Share Media As" and save changes.

I wanted to use the new program DLNA feature where you can media stream on to your PS3, and I can't do it because it won't install... please help.

Please help me. Try to explain everything step by step. Yes, I have read the other topics, and I'm still very confused.

 Thanks.

OK I just did the upgrade and PS3 detected my PC as a Media Center.  However when I click on it it said PS3 is not allowed to access media center and perhaps PS3 was not registered.

How do I allow / register my PS3 to access my PC?

[QUOTE="chinhman"]

[QUOTE="Imallvol7"]and yep, it automatically pulled all my videos, music, and pictures to ps3. amazingImallvol7

Wow I like to do the same with my PC & PS3. Can you share the info how to set this up?

What software do you have to install on the PC to share files and stream video?

And what settings do you need to do on the PS3?

i have no idea.  Right after i rebooted my ps3 after instal, my laptop was near it and started beeping as soon as the ps3 started up.  It said something about sharing and i chose to all and violla, its done.

Do you happen to have a Sony laptop?  Maybe it is a Sony thing.
