Resident Evil 6 Demo thoughts & Resident Evil Remake beaten

This blog is all about Resident Evil because I did 2 things RE related yesterday.

Okay I had to check the demo out to see what to expect and I played all 3 characters just to see the difference in gameplay and see what I was getting and my thoughts on all 3.

I started with Leons and I thought his was probably the best because of the dark enviroment and gameplay that felt well paced and such but the controls were a bit fiddly and a bit difficult to understand. I think that this is the campaign I shall be starting with on the 2nd October.

Nw onto Chris and to be honest I wasn't keen on his gameplay at all it felt like I was playing a COD game or Gears of War type game as well. I could not understand how you swapped guns or ammunition at one point it felt a bit to iffy and the fire seemed to come from everywhere. It didn't feel really like I was playing a Resident Evil game.

I shall finally comment on Sherrys gameplay it wasn't to different to the first 2 but I liked it more than Chris Redfields gameplay it had some intresting creatures in it and that to get to certain places you needed to work as a team with Jake as to like unbarred a door or something you didn't do that in Chris Redfields. Also the end of the demo left you with a bit of a boss but a cut away at the end.

Other basic stuff like running and gunning was a nice feature the healing system does seem a bit iffy to me it might make the game easy to plough through and sometimes some of the firing I didn't see come at me maybe I wasn't paying attention or something. I didn't get the inventory system it felt to fiddly and I sometimes struggled to find what I wanted to use.

Overall unlike some people who don't play games before commenting on them I can say this the game could follow suit to RE5 it looked to have alot of problems in areas and such. The gameplay for Leons was pretty good,Sherrys was alright but Chris Redfield didn't feel like Resdent Evil at all. I do feel the series has fallen from it's grace since Shinji Mikami isn't doing it anymore.

If I was to rate the demo on a scale of of 1 to 10 I would probably say about a 6 really because some sections were intrestering but some particularly Chris Redfields demo was a turn off. I don't think demo do certain games justice and I hope this is the case for one of them but I see alot of chinks in the armour of RE and dare I say it if the final production isn't up to scratch then who knows where the series goes after this.

I shall still be getting the game on the 2nd October but my anticaption has sort of been pushed down a notch.

Also yesterday I managed to beat Jills Resident Evil Remake campaign on the Gamecube but I was playing it on the Wii and I got the best ending I think saving both Chris and Barry.

The game was an amazing experience it had loads of tense moments and some nasty surprises in store like Lisa Trevor,The Crimson Heads and of course those Hunters who remained a constant menace. This game is probably with Code Veronica the most tense Resident Evil in the series because you just don't know what to expect. The puzzles were good something newer installments have been missing.

The bosses like Yawn,Plant 42,Tyrant and of course Neptune were incredible experiences like when Neptune trys to break through the glass and also Plant 42 holding you up before Barry comes in and saves the day. Can I also say I much perfer Jill and Weskers look in this game compared to RE5. They looked just right.

Overall an incredible experience and definetly one I'd be willing to play again. I am not sure what the next RE game I am gonna try and beat is either 3 or 0 but I am sure gonna enjoy. In fact I had reviewed number 3 and loved it.

On a scale of 1 to 10 this game is a 9 it's an excellent title and one of the best RE games ever and possibly one of the best Remakes of all time.

My top 5 videogame intros

An intro is basically like the opening to a videogame and basically sets the tone for the game. Some games have explosive intros and some don't here are 5 of my very favorite intros to a videogame ever. I am not talking about the intro to the game with the title screen I mean the opening section of the game.

5.Uncharted 2 Among Thieves: Hanging on from the Train incident: Uncharted 2 is one of the best games this gen without doubt and simply awesome. The Train section alone makes it standout but it's where we first see Nathan Drake on a train having being shot and struggling to survive. The man is hanging from the bottom of a train which is on it's way down into the ocean or whatevers at the bottom of the cliff and so much happens. As he gets to the top he jumps out but man he looks battered, brusied and that like shows the flashbacks of the events that led up to this situation.

4.Metroid Prime: Escaping the Space Facilty: We see Samus facing off against a giantantic boss the Parasite Queen and after it's defeat she has top do a runner in timely Metroid fashion to get off the station and halfway round she meets old foe Ridley heading to TallonIV. Samus gives chase but is knocked against a wall losing all her powers and heading for her ship. This is great because it shows the size of possibly some of the bosses and the amazing world yet to be explored.

3.The Legend of Zelda A Link to the Past: Rescuing Zelda from the castle: Links uncle goes out to rescue Zelda from the castle but Link wakes up and eventually finds a secret passage not known by the guards and manages to enter the castle. Wondering around the castle he sees his uncle killed by the guards and now only he can save Zelda. He goes through darkened areas and strong foes with only a sword and shield to free Zelda and escape the castle but that's only just the start. What happens afterwards turns it into one of the best Zelda games ever.

2. Mass Effect 2: Escaping the ship and being rebuilt: What I like about this series is it's engaging story your old ship the Normandy is about go up in smoke and you have to escape it. After the incident you are technically dead but thanks to Cerberus you are rebuild and ready to carry out you instructions of what you have to do to take down the Collectors even though you don't know much about Cerberus and what there full intentions are in the series.

MY FAVORITE INTRO TO A VIDEOGAME IS

1.Resident Evil 4: First encounter in the village: So you'd think that this should be pretty easy considering there wasn't many zombies in the old RE games on one screen. What you realise is these people are not zombies but that they are very intelligent and hunt in packs. I mean they throw those two polices officiers off the side who you had just got out of the car with. Next as you enter the village the villagers spot you and are ready to attack and if you went inside the house a cut scene triggers that these guys will communicate and they manage to use a ladder to get through the top and they call in reinforcements with the Chainsaw wielding Dr Salvador. Also considering you started on Normal the Shotgun is in the house they attack you in. The reason this is number 1 is because it sets the tone that it is gonna be alot different from Raccoon City, these guys are more intelligent than zombies and the enemies carry things and will stop at nothing to stop you reaching your objective.

Honourable mentions Ratchet and Clank Tools of Destruction,Metal Gear Solid,InFamous 2,Batman Arkham City

What are some of your favorite videogame intros of all time.

Is there ever a thing of to many fighters in a fighting game?

I was thinking this yesterday and while I do like the genre I was just wondering if there is ever a thing as to many fighting game characters in one game.

Since Street Fighter 2 the roster for the series expanded and added more characters to the series as new moves to go with it. Fellow fighters like Tekken,Mortal Kombat and Soul Calibur have also followed this by adding more each series. I aren't saying it is or it isn't a problem but sometimes the new characters can sometimes be broken for example like Seth,Yoda in Soul Calibur 4 and a few others.

I am just bringing this topic up for debate I don't have a problem with it but should there or shouldn't there be a limit of characters in fighters.

1 years Subscription to PS+ plus 4 new games

Today I decided after getting Playstation Plus for 3 months everytime I'd go get a years Subscription and I couldn't have picked a better time because in Europe I aren't sure about the US it was 25% until September 19th so I picked a good time I think to Subscribe for a full year.

Also this week I bought 4 games 3 for the PS2 and 1 for the PS1.

The game I got for the PS1 was Dino Crisis which plays very similar to the early Resident Evil games but except it's got dinosaurs in it.

For the PS2 I got Burnout Revenge to add with fellow Burnout games Burnout 3 Takedown and Burnout the original. I also got Mortal Kombat Deadily Alliance and also I think this next game has just recently been ported to the Wii called Project Zero 2 Crimson Butterfly.

So it's been a busy week and I look forward to playing them in the long run.

So no Zelda till 2014 so no need to get a Wii U that quickly then

The news that probably many Nintendo fans didn't want to hear but no WiiU Zelda till 2014 and that will probably be late 2014 for them to play it. Also with no major 3D Mario game for the WiiU yet seen no need to get one either or Metroid game or Smash Bros since we haven't heard about Mario or Metroid and we haven't even seen the new Smash Bros yes we know they'll be one but when.

You might be saying there will be good 3rd party games well if the Wii was anything to go by I am not gonna hold my breathe and I already own games like Arkham City on PS3 and will have AC3 by the end of October anyway.

Sorry but I don't get a console until a major title comes out that I want I did with the Wii with Zelda Twilight Princess and the Gamecube with Mario Sunshine. I don't want to be stuck playing boring Nintendo Land which looks dull by the way.

Just my opinion I aren't even a fan of the WiiU and espically with no Zelda till 2014 whats the point in getting one. Super Mario Bros WiiU. It's the same recycled game I basically played on the DS,Wii and 3DS it's just to get people to get the console because Mario sells.

Ask your average Nintendo fan and they'll say they want their Zelda,3D Mario fix,Metroid,Mario Kart and Smash Bros.

Ratchet Deadlocked/Gladiator getting the HD treatment

According to IGN the 4th Ratchet game on the PS2 Deadlocked/Gladiator will be expected to download on PSN by the end of the year.

http://uk.ign.com/articles/2012/09/02/ratchet-deadlocked-headed-to-ps3

That will come to the annoyace I think because I think there was many that thought it should have come with the HD Collection just released in the US last week.

What do you make of this news and will you be getting it. I am guessing because they weren't part of the original trilogy and just a spin off it wasn't included but it probably is just another excuse for Sony to get some well earned money from us.

My top 5 Resident Evil games of all time

It's time I think to do this Resident Evil 6 is almost here and what better way than to do my top 5 Resident Evil games of all time. Understand I haven't played them all but I have played enough of them to do a top 5 so here we go.

5.Resident Evil 3 Nemesis: The third installment in the series was one that kept you on your toes at all times because of the memorable enemy known as Nemesis. What made this game memorable was some of the Powders could now be mixed to make better Bullets for your guns and also it had a thing where you had to make 2 choices in certain areas. Plus with Nemesis on your tail that added to the tension.

4.Resident Evil Remake: Normally remakes aren't as good as the originals but this was one remake that blew the original out of the water. The areas were dark there were alot of puzzles and some of the scariest enemies in the series as well. Also it's much better than the original because the dialogue is much better and the characters look much better and presentable. Many consider the scariest in the series.

3.Resident Evil 2 Resident Evil 2 had 2 discs one with Leon Kennedy and Claire Redfield who both made their debuts in number 2. One characters campaign would affect the others. The game also introduced the fiendish Lickers a favorite enemy of fans. One shall never forget it flying past the window in the police station. The puzzles were better and the game also had some epic boss battles too.

2.Resident Evil Code Veronica: Whilst I haven't beaten Code Veronica I think the game is incredible the gameplay is the same as before but the areas are much bigger and there's plenty of areas too. Plus the enemies and bosses are probably some of the most devasting in the series. It had that dark tense atmosphere as well which is what the series has been built on.

MY FAVORITE RESIDENT EVIL GAME OF ALL TIME IS

1.Resident Evil 4: Not only the best in the series PLEASE! beg to differ but one of the finest games ever made. Resident Evil 4 shakes things up dramatically. Gonna is the slow tense gameplay hello to fast paced gameplay. While the change is different the series need to change. There are still scares to be had like the Oven Man,Chainsaw Wielding Maniacs and the dreaded breathing of the Regenarators the game has plenty of thrills. One section you are battling baddies in a house and next running around in a maze with a monster wanting to tear you limb from limb. Plus with the added Merchant who sells you Guns,Upgrades and Storage Space it's a winning formula. Plus I never liked using the Ink Ribbons for Typewriters. The bosses are big and awesome like a big eel like boss and an enemy that tracks you in the sewers. Resident Evil 4 is a marvellous achievement and in my opinion no other Resident Evil game beats it.

Honourable mentions

Resident Evil Revelations,Resident Evil

So there you go my top 5 Resident Evil games of all time whats yours.

I got yet another Platinum I am on a role

After successful finishing Sonic Generations 100% on PS3 and Platinuming it I had another game I was close to clearing 100% and Platinuming and I did that today.

I managed to get this Platinum quite easily. It was Ratchet and Clank Locked and Loaded/Going Commando. It is the second Ratchet and Clank game I have Platinumed 100%. In my opinion it is probably the second best in the series behind the third game which I am way off doing but the first I aren't to far off doing.

I used a little trick to achieve the Platinum I just used the weapons I hadn't maxed out. I achieved 3 in 1 because I bought the Zodiac and upgraded all my weapons and gotten all the Skill Points to go with it. Then I went to the Insomniac Meseum to get the last one.

I actually played the game twice through and a bit more to get everything. Doing this has given me my 6th Platinum and the games I have done so far are.

Ratchet and Clank A Crack in Time

Uncharted 2 Among Thieves

Uncharted 3 Drakes Deception

Sly Band of Thieves

Sonic Generations

Ratchet and Clank Locked and Loaded/Going Commando

Hopefully more will follow.

Sonic Generations Platinum

As the blog entitles I have done another game 100% all trophies collected. That is right I did Sonic Generations yesterday at 1.21am GMT time because I am from the UK. Anyway I had alot of trobule with some for example blasting through the Green Hill Zone in under a minute, Getting every Red Ring I won't lie I didn't get close on Sonic to getting them all and finally the most annoying of them all Beating the Final Boss without being hit by the boss. You can crash into the rubble just take not hits from the Time Eater.

Now I know that Super Sonic doesn't lose rings to the Final Boss but you just had to aoid his attacks which were the Homing Shot Missles, The Warping Arms, Him Slapping his hands together when you got close and finally the Laser Beam he does after you hit him twice. Beating this boss alone is a pain in the a*** but doing it without taking damage is even worse because he is so annoying to get too.

It took me just under 4 and a half minutes because I had to collect rings as well. Getting the Platinum for this game makes it 5 games I have platinumed altogether. Ratchet and Clank A Crack in Time,Uncharted 2 and 3,Sly 2 and now Sonic Generations and hopefully these aren't thelast ones. Because I am close on God of War and various other games as well.

Any thought I'd let you guys know about my latest platinum because I like to keep people updated. Sonic Generations is a great game if you haven't played it I'd certainly recommend it.

Missions that did my head in on Jak 2 Renegade

Jak 2 is an excellent game that is true it is also one hard game too because of the missions and here are some of the missions I dreaded playing on Jak 2 it is one tough game to nail and beat.

Throwing the Bombs in the Eco Wells: I think anybody that knows this mission knows what I am talking about the 2 minute counter to throw 6 bombs into Eco wells. One of them requires good jumping skills, one has a slight curve and one of them is so far away it requires you grind there to get there but if you mess once you might as well find a bottomless pit to fall down. Even now this level is a pain.

Taking down the 5 Hellcat Cruisers: This task is one S.O.B. There are 5 big ships that need taking out and no you don't get to continue where you left off when it gets you. You need alot of ammo and alot of time and patience to beat this mission because once you strike one the Crimson Guard are on your tail and attacking you and the HellCat Cruiser. I had to change vehicles alot of times and I had to lose the Crimson Guard so I could just focus my attention on the Hellcat Cruisers.

The Seal Peace at the Water Slums: Where do I begin with this it is so frustrating that I broke a controller seriously this section is so hard that I just did it through pure luck. First of all you grab the Seal Peace then Crimson Guard and Dropships surround you and you have to get back across the bridge but you will die loads of times. Don't even bother trying to go in the water because a security bot will fire and do you in one. There are no Health Packs,no Vehicles only you, your guns and jetboard. Seriously this is the toughest mission in the game and might send you to breaking point.#

Win the 1st Class Race: The first one pretty straightforward, the second one is challenging but the 3rd race is tough as nails to win because I swear the drivers get very agressive and plus your racing against that blimin Erol as well. What makes it hard is some corners are narrow meaning you will hit racers plus whilst racing your vehicle will take damage but there's won't. There is a shortcut near the end of the track that helps though,

Kor Boss Fight: I tell you what I hate with most games nowadays is they don't attack you alone and this guy brings out some of his minions too. It is hard to get a clear shot at times and you can be to occupied on Kor than the little enemies that keep spawning but the 3rd phase isn't to hard because there are no enemies but still tough to beat.

Rescue friends from the Fotress: After taking down Praxis for the second time Crimson Guard capture your friends and you have to rescue them from the fortress. This fortress contains some new soldiers which take more damage plus you have loads of them to take out in the first section alone. Then you have to avoid a laser and also more Crimson Guard and more robots.

The first mission at the Dig: This is a toughy because the place has about 20 things at the dig on Grind Rails plus lots of Crimson Guard and falling rocks that come out of nowhere. This is hard because the baddies are all the place defending these places.

Escort Krews men through Sewers: This is a pain because the men hardly do anything but go on and on and I hate protection missions. Yes RE2 I am looking at you. What makes it hard is about a quarter of the way round some enemies can't be spotted and you have to clear the way yourself. Finally at the end the place ends up swarming with Metal Heads left, right and center and those 3 idiots do nothing to help you.

Destroy Cargo at the Port: Now this is one mission I couldn't beat until I got the HD remaster on PS3. The one where you have to destroy the Cargo in the port by where the Weapons Practice games are and where Krew is by the Port. The problem being there are mines surrounding all of them and to make matters worse you have a time limit plus you have to plan your route so you can get them all in time. Very annoying and frustrating.

So these are some of the missions that drove me nuts on Jak 2 I'd like to know yours. Please comment on what missions you hated the most.
