Missing the point. Consider that these companies have a finite number of resources. The less directed those resources are at a sole gaming experience if there is any real effort in other areas.

I buy consoles because I game, not because I want to stream television through it.

Added functionality comes at a cost of a less centralized development.

It's ignored because if you want to play GTA, Halo, Battlefield, CoD, anything EA, anything Crytek, anything CDProject Red, or anything remotely adult you can't.

Nintendo needs to open up to more mature games before the majority of gamers will take the console seriously.
