I took me awhile to get into Resistance 1,longer than it takes me to get into most games. Then I loved it, not exactly sure why. Cool variety of enemies, enemies that take tons of ammo to take down, good graphics, good sound, plenty of environment variety, ample gun variety & very fun to play. Meh, who knows why it's considered a good game.

It sounds to me like you are internally measuring Resistance 1 against a different game you truly like, a game you haven't mentioned. I wouldn't be surprised if the game you aren't mentioning is a 360 game, & you are a regular commentor in system wars, & this is your attempt a starting a little cross-forum drama.

Maybe you just need to play Resistance 1 a little longer, or maybe you just don't like it. But seems a little odd you would start a discussion about something you don't like, inviting people to either side with or disagree with you (drama).

They both rock, excellent games. You are of course missing out.

What is great about them... they are both overall strong games with very few weak points. (play/graphics/sound/story/length/difficulty)

Don't forget that if you get MOH used you will have to pony up the add'l $10 for an online play code.

And you won't have to w/Borderlands.

If you're looking for a good repair shop, I had my fat 60gb PS3 fixed at Gophermods. They fixed my YOLD (thermal issue) & then refunded my repair costs when the GPU completely fried 5 1/2 months later (that's what I get for buying a used system of Craigslist). Gophermods doesn't format consoles while doing repairs (data retained) & they are cheaper than Sony (& offer a longer warranty). When mine died I sent it back to Gophermods, they checked everything out & I got a full explanation (technical) of the exact problem with my console from the company owner.

surely you can get surround sound in a headset if the positioining is right, i have heard from many tht it works very well?

i am leaning towards the AX 720's as they seem a bit more quality for money

The surround you get within a headset is not correct/same as audiophile surround. It is surround in that the DPX21s & 720s ear cups surround (cover) your ear. The surround within headphones is more full sounding than stereo within headphones. But it is not the same as an experience you will get with a full 5.1 or 7.1 digital surround system (headphones do the best they can- being worn on your head & 1"-1.5" from your ear canal).

Good luck with whatever you chose. Both options are reviewed very well & either should increase your enjoyment of gaming.

Interesting response/suggestion. But the cost for a high quality full surround stereo system (receiver/speakers/cables, not acrap-quality htib) will be 5-10 times the cost of the headphones. Do you really think someone debating between 2 sets of headphones in the $60-$150 price range is also considering spending $750-$1500 for a full surround sound system? Keeping in mind the headphones only require the console & his head (which he already has both), but the full system also requires a appropriately sized room to use it in. And he would still need to purchase a mic separately!?!

I would go to the Audio/Video Hardware board. They can explain why, but your ears can't detect surround sound from a headset. Therefore it's a gimmick and isn't worth the extra cost.
They will also tell you to get a pair of audiophile headphones. Sennheiser 555's are a popular choice there from the little experience I've had in the board. So I would drop those options and pick up the Sennheisers

The only catch is the Sennheisers are probably about the same cost (not sure), there is no mic & no ability the adjust game volume separate from chat volume. I would go for the Turtle Beach or Titton based solely on these features.

Keep in mind a consumer is going to like or dislike the headphones they have, & maybe convey a personal experience with what they purchased.

But to be able to compare the listed options (or claim one is better than the other), they would need to have purchased & experienced all options listed (be wary of comparison comments). Not many consumers do this (buy all & compare). I did this about18 years ago with stereo headphones, spent almost $700 on different headphones & ended liking the $20 Koss the most (over a $200 big brand). I also did this with Microwave popcorn, I prefer Popsecret Homestyle. I also did this with shower heads (more expensive is not always better- Kohler).

If you got the money I suggest buying them all & checking them all out yourself (keeping the preferred set & returning the others). Or check/compare professional reviews of all listed options (but remember all reviews are biased toward the reviewers preferences).

Email Sony to see if they are still offering the swap/fix & current cost.

Swap/Fix was: 1. send fat ps3 to sony, 2. get your system fixed or refurb of same model for $180 (fix or refurb is at Sonys discretion), OR 3. get refurb 120gb slim ps3 for $150.

Keep in mind every system sent to Sony gets reformatted (Sony= lose info/memory) & Sony only offers 3 months warranty.

You do have other options, I had my 60gb fat fixed by gophermods ($70 fix + $30 for 6 month warranty, no lost info/memory). Fix was great & fat worked, but when my GPU completely fried (5 1/2 months later) gophermods refunded the complete fix/warranty $$$. I then sent to Sony & swapped for 120gb slim.

My slim is quieter than fat ever was. But slim can't play ps2s, no biggie cause I have 2 ps2s.

In-laws gifted me the DPX21s last xmas. I think the sound quality is great (very slight/minimal hiss before game sounds start & no audible hiss during gaming sounds, ample & clear bass, realistic & natural mids, adequate highs- not tinny). The build quality of the headphones is good (not cheap & not exceptional- but good, long cords, everything needed is included).

I use the surround mode more than the stereo expander mode because it sounds better/more full.

I don't think the headphones make me a better FPS gamer, but the better sound did increase my enjoyment of the game sounds & my overall sense of immersion in game.

Mostly enjoy headphones because I can now game late at night with sound roaring & not wake wife or kids.
