I value life over property so I'm completely against killing people to defend your home. But this is ridiculous.

I don't know about this. I've read about too many home invasions that start out as robberies and turn into something more. Take the Petit case. Started out as a home invasion about money, and the guy's wife end up getting raped and strangled, and his two teenage daughters were raped and set on fire. He was beaten unconscious and barely escaped from the burning house, and now his entire family is dead.
Anyone who breaks into my house is getting shot in the head.
I don't see how anyone could not like it. It's about as close to perfect as you're going to find in the world of filmmaking. Very tightly written and acted with lots of classic and iconic scenes and pieces of dialogue.
I particularly like the restaurant assassination scene, and all of the prequel stuff with DeNiro in part 2.

I couldn't get past Michael essentially going from some happy go lucky kinda guy to essentially a psychotic killer in the span of a half hour.
It's just not a movie I cared for. Goodfellas is superior to it in every way possible.
Someone tried to kill his father. What's not to understand?

Something like 80% of their employees don't have health insurance, and a huge number of them are on welfare because they pay slave wages. Meanwhile the corporate overlords at Walmart live like kings. It's a typical example of how corporations are putting a huge drain on tax payers because they treat their employees like dirt.
