How would you change classic games ?
So I only really picked up and got into the first mecenaries in the last few months.
But I really really like it. Unlike the earlyer 3d GTA games it really holds up now.
So after the problems of the second game, and after getting as into the first as I have I got to thinking about what i'd do with the game.
Only one idea kept popping into my head.
MMO
Now , not just "make a mercenaries mmo!" But take the first game. Keep it as the basis for an mmo. Keep the visuals to just a bit above the quality there. Then expand the game not in graphics but world scope. Make it feel like a whole country.
Make the citys and towns 4 times larger, put small villages and outposts out there. Arms dealers that move around the lands.
Make the trees as distructable as the buildings. Heck even make it possible to blow chunks out the mountain sides.
So how would it work. Well not far from the original game. You are dropped in , along with how ever many other players happen to be joining that time, and you head to the local demilitrised zone and are given details of the different factions locations.
And at the dmz you can form squads or head off alone. And you fight to the local faction hq's and choose one to assign yourself with. The only ones you cannot join with are the Mob and the UN. Which one you join with will leave you assigned with mini tasks that you can carry out against npc's or active xbox players in other factions.
Joining a faxction also means you may sometimes help other factions on missions. join china and your un likely to assist the south korians but you might end up with the north korians in a team up mission.
Join the South korians and you might work with the UN.
Missions could be simple land capture based events or they could be assasination missions. Hitting a NPC leader or even leading an assult on an xbl player who is of a high rank.
New mission types would add camp resupply and creation based missions.
Head to another factions zone or a city and obtain a number of items to re inforce your camp or hq. Or use money saved from past missions to do the same.
Now you can leave your faction at any point , but much like the original game you must pay to join the new faction and your past faction will put an immideate number on your head. Making the choice less of a positive proposition.
And thats all ive come up with .lol. Thoughts please. And really , what games would you change or update and how.?
