That Klonoa cover is great. Good work. I'm interested in seeing more of this. I'd like to do it, but I have no artistic ability what so ever. meetroid8

Well it didnt take a lot on my part believe me. Theres a lot of websites out there that provide tips, insperation and resorces to do this quite quickly and simply. I just make sure to print mine on glossy photo print paper. at least I do untill i find something more appropreate.

Im glad you liked the klonoa cover by the way, i was quite happy with that one.

These are what ive done this weekend.

sonic colours - wii / tekken 6 - 360 / phantasy star online ep 1 and 2 - gamecubemetal gear solid 3 - ps2 (this is quite literally the boss )

The printer ink started running out once i got to the sonic colours cover so ill re do that, the others are tekken 6 , phantasy star online episode 1&2 and metal gear solid 3 snake eater which im very happy with.

I can't tell- did you put the logo for each game on the spines, too? Or only the front cover? Also, if I were going to go through that kind of trouble, I'd buy clear cases and put the original cover sheets facing inward(I'd also put both the inside and outside covers in upside down so that the disc would be on the left, and the front cover would be clear and the back cover would be covered with the disc). But that's just me. This does sound like a cool project, though.El_Zo1212o

Yeah I did pop the logo on the sleeves. Im still not a 100% on them being like this or if i will stry for something designed more directly by myself. I did happen to get a box full of brand new dvd cases and xbox 360 / ps3 cases to use on this project too. so I might play with the idea of the flipped cover thing too.

Hello all.

Lately I've made the choice to start collecting games. Now I've always lived in a house where theres a lot of games on shelves, its just the way i roll, yet i've never really seen myself as a collector. Mostly because I traded and sold games too often for that to be possible and also because im poor and cannot afford much.

So like i was saying it has only been of late that the idea of collecting games has become more of a focus for me.

I was mostly inspired by a selection of you tube users with mighty impressive collection videos. I wanted to play with the idea of making collection videos like that. I started to think about it more and something elce started to burn inside me. The decision not just to collect, but to also archive. To create something more extensive then, this is my game in my box on my shelf.

The idea was to find individual games and record videos not just of the collection but also of the game itself. footage of a range of aspects. But also to collect copy's of the games soundtracks, photo galleries of screen shots and production art. collect it all together as a semi interactive archive. eventually.

So what has that got to do with some sorta cover up?

Well around the same time I started thinking about the archive i was also shown a picture by my girlfriend. It was of 8 games re-imagined as books, with appropriate covers and new titles. Much like the old penguin books covers. All had the same style, this also got me thinking. Why is game cover art so hit and miss? I mean its so silly that a game can be amazing to play and experience but the thing most people will see first, its cover, is so poor. Often coming across rushed and crammed with logos and bad review quotes. Its no wonder some really great games get passed over when people shop for them.

After some searching I found details on the cover modding scene. Found frames and templates and started creating my own covers for my collection. My plane is to create a new cover for every game I attempt to archive from now on.

So I wanted to share some of what Ive done so far here, see what people think of the covers Ive created and idea as a whole. Mostly though I wanted to open up this topic to everyone who might be interested and inspired to create new cover art of their own. I'd love to talk to other cover modders and see what some of you have come up with.

So here's a couple of examples of what I've got so far.

the full cover set

jet set radio future newklonoa 2

fallout 3 & new vegas

so i wont say much as i want to get to the point , and i wont be too preachy here. But im not a very accumplished man. No great skills, not success in any areas and no money to show for 28 years of time on earth.

But when what happened to haiti happened i felt this need to help that ive not felt before. How much could happen to those people. Just barely recovering from floods, already the poorest country in the nothern hemisphire, it just felt unfair. I wanted to help. But i have no money and no passport to go help in person.

I felt bad, and then remembered i have a red bubble account.

So i just did some thing simple. Designed a shirt, put it up, and now all money i get will go to Haiti. simple.

so if you get a moment, go look at it, think about buying it, and if you have the cash spare do. and if not at least tell a friend about it being there. And even make your own Haiti shirt and sell it too, and pass it on.

haiti

Its not much, but its something i can do.

thanks for taking time to read.
