@AdamK47 You can't see the inventory system of TW2 and say that it's well designed, but anyway, let's say it's awesome just because everyone says so. Btw are you agreeing to yourself? :D
For me GOTY should be a mixture between technical quality and innovation. Guild Wars 2 is the perfect candidate IMO, not only for absolutely renewing and setting the bar for future MMOs, but also for doing it in such a beautiful, classy and intelligent way.
I'll keep basing my taste on how good a game is, and not how violent. Just like in movies or any other piece of entertainment. If you don't like it, don't play it, please avoid judging whoever doesn't think like you.
@Crimson_Erskine @ggregd We're talking here about merchant npc's that change their voice at a point.... does it have any impact in your gameplay? I just want to remind you here that we're talking about a MMO, played by millions of people and having a myriad of potential random issues. It's not like a single player game, with clearer boundaries, easier to control. Those bugs you guys mention are not even the breadcrumbs of a bug.
I'm not saying the game is 100% bug free (name a sigle MMO that ever was). I say that these issues don't take down your experience a notch.
@Crimson_Erskine 1stly, it's an MMO, not a single player game, which make it a way harder piece to polish.
2nd, Those technical flaws would be insignificant and mostly unnoticeable even in an average game. I've been playing for a week and I still havent found a single flaw that takes away any fun from the game. None at all, so either I'm blind, very lucky, or I'm just not looking for any reason, no matter how ridiculous, to dislike this game.
Why this game deserves 10 instead of 9 has nothing to do with those small flaws you mention anyway. The difference from 9 to 10 is how groundbreaking and influential this game is. And that's just out of the question, no matter how much you hate it.
10/10 from me. This game successfully removes everything that takes the fun out of the experience. I can't understand why you guys diminish it to a 9. It's not just another great, even almost perfect title.
GW2 is a turning point in his genre, the game other games want to be.
You say....
The Bad: Does a mediocre job of explaining important concepts Some lingering technical issues and other annoyances.
Does a GREAT job at motivating players to find out for themselves everything, both important and trivial parts of the game. I hate games (mostly mmo) that flood me with tutorials at the beginning of everything activity I do. FFS how can you turn a virtue into a flaw?? O.o"
And since when "some lingering technical issues" take down a whole point?
Seriously guys, you've got to admit it. GW2 has that "x factor" that makes a 9/10 turn to a 10/10. You must be blind to miss it.
