Another point to add, most quiet guys who don't have any sense of humor/won't crack a joke are jerks. The ones who will, though, aren't in my experience.XilePrincess
But what about quiet guys who, if you get to know them, can be very nice, funny, and be a great (boy)friend? They aren't necessarily jerks or insecure, just quiet (introverted).

I don't understand how guys can pee around other men :? Lads say "Well it's not like we look or anything" but still... Erm I have an embarrassing story which is making me go red just typing about it :? I guess that's my craziest experience. On a school trip in year 6 (so I was 10 at the time) I really needed a pee and there was an unmarked toilet block so I assumed they just had one unisex bathroom so I went in, and as I came out I saw my male teacher washing his hands and he was like "Emma?". I SHOULD have laughed it off with my mates but instead I handled it perfectly by bursting into tears :| Ohh other crazy stuff - I was in the loos at college and they have these round loo roll dispensers with a hole on the front where the loo roll is fed through. When it starts to run out the roll tends to get trapped in the dispenser, and with no key it's stuck. It's so frustrating knowing there's loo roll in there but you can't get to it :x One day I worked out the key hole could fit a locker key and might open it. It worked so from then on I was sorted. One day I went into the loos in E Block that have really small cubicles. I noticed the roll had got stuck so I popped it open using my locker key, turned round to sit on the loo and went about my business. Looked up to grab some tissue and the roll had gone o_O I was really confused...when I turned round to flush the ENTIRE roll was there in the loo. I panicked as there were people WAITING for the cubicles :? After 5 mins deciding what to do, I just closed the lid and walked casually out. And then died of embarrassment :| ...this seems to be a lot of embarrassing stories about me :x Oh I went into the loos at college the other day and there was a couple of Chinese lasses in there (I knew cause they talk to each other one the loo). Suddenly one of them let rip a mahussive fart, giggled then carried on talking. I was like wtfbbq :?tofu-lion91
It's a man law that there always has to be at least one urinal separating each man during the process of urinating. If there is only one urinal open and it happens to be in between two men, you may use it but you must keep your eyes directly forward or looking directly down. Failure to adhere to these criteria results in the revokation of your masculinity (I think I just made up 2-3 words in that sentence).

Asian History goes towards my minor in Japanese. Please don't be so quick to judge, while most people who take japanese are indeed socially inept otaku nerds, i view myself as pretty normal. and omg i dont watch anime! crazy i know! i just happened to be very interested in japanese culture (which is because i took it in highschool).HoldThePhone
You have a very flawed understanding of society if you think that's true.

And people, taking a science/math isn't hard. You just need the mind for it.

buddy ive taken 5 years of japanese courses and 95% of the students around me are wearing inuyasha shirts to class. am i wrong in generalizing this upon everyone? yes. but that's just what i've seen.

So don't state it as fact.

[QUOTE="GenTom"]Asian history and intermediate Japanese? I do hope you're not some silly little anime fan who thinks being able to understand anime and japanese rpg's without subtitles is cool/worth it? No offence, just.. I laugh at people who are like that (though i'm not saying you are, just.. the courses you're taking...)HoldThePhone

When you consider how many people graduate college you shoulden't expect it to be that hard.. go into something math or science based if everything is so easy. :D110million
Doesn't only about 15% of the US population have a college degree?

I am a track athlete so I run everyday, regardless if it's raining/snowing/hail/etc. But if I am out with some friends and it starts raining, I don't run (unless it's like a freaking downpour).

I'm a junior in High School and I get straight As. Those classes seem rediculously easy. Stop bragging, you don't apply yourself. You obviously don't value education as much as other people. Get over yourself.

That's sad news, I really hope he recovers. For such a brilliant theoretical physician who had been through so many difficulties, he had a great sense of humor. I wish all my professors were like that.Hungry_bunny
Physician? Since when does he have a medical degree? It's PHYSICIST (spelling?).

[QUOTE="WushuFighter"]

[QUOTE="cpo335"]

So I'm on the track team and I'm trying to get really strong (I want to be ripped). I also wanted to get faster (I run a 4:39 mile) so I am looking for some exercises that will help me get ripped as well as faster.

I alraedy do 3 sets of 15 for curls, and two other tricep exercises (one is where I lean over and let my arms hang, then pull the weight up to my shoulder. The other one is where I lay flat on my back on a bench with a bar over my head with my arms straight out and I let the bar "fall" until it is just above my face - making a 90 degree angle with my arms). Then I bench (but it's really nothing consistant, I usually do around 110-115 reg. - 8 to 10 reps with 3 sets).

For legs, I don't really do anything, except run a LOT. I run about 8-10 miles a day (at around 7-7:30 pace) and then I do leg extensions (sometimes). For abs, I do a bunch of exercises.

So does anyone have any tips for getting ripped abs, chest, and arms/shoulders?

Okay first thing, when it comes to strength training and explosiveness, there are few members on gamespot that you should take a chance in taking advice from them.

Second, if it is track that you are training for, strength will be a more important and practical goal for you.

For general strength, I highly recommend these routines: http://startingstrength.wikia.com/wiki/The_Starting_Strength_Novice/Beginner_Programs

You may also want to take a look at this site too for explainations on how to perform the lifts properly: http://stronglifts.com/. They also have valuable strength training information and routines that you can use also.

If you want to become faster, plyometrics is highly recommended and will be of more use than just running all the time. http://www.exrx.net/Lists/PowerExercises.html. Chose a couple of the plyometric exercises and do them once or twice a week on a lifting cycle. Once a week should be sufficient for recovery.

Some quick information:

-Rep ranges for maximal strength is from 1 to 5, strength AND hypertrophy(muscle mass and getting "ripped") is around 6-8 reps.

-Some good strength volumes are usually around 1x1, 1x3, 1x5, 3x1, 3x5, 5x5, 5x3(especially for olympic lifts).

-Make your lifts explosive by lifting fast and explosively but controlled on the concentric portion(for example, the upward motion of a squat).

-Lifts such as the bench press are good for chest development but unnecessary for track.

But benching makes me look good.
