Now that was fun! What game titles bother me? "Devil May Cry", What does that even mean?

@balintcsikos @cratecruncher I've been doodling space elevators since I was a kid. It's where I'd place my bet! Fountains of Paradise by Arthur C. Clark is pretty good for any that haven't already read it.

@ExtremePhobia @cratecruncher I cede your point Extreme. Yet even with mining there will always be the need to somehow lift people and specialized equipment into orbit.

@ypsltov @cratecruncher I suspect what you call sterile I call immersive. I admit Skyrim wasn't up to the Morrowind standard of factions and quests but it still offered freedom to go anywhere or do anything. The whole MMO race to the next battle set piece, Disneyland feel is just not for me. I like learning the lore, taking time to explore and talk to everyone. I always try to avoid combat choosing to talk my way out of killing NPC's using charisma and persuasion. I'm playing a modded version of 2001's Arcanum I bought off GOG right now. It's a steep learning curve and the 2D graphics are certainly dated but I find it much more entertaining than this frantic MMO stuff.

Maybe you're right about MMO's being the future but I don't think so. At least not in its present form. For every person like you that's enthusiastic, it seems there are 3 that have burnt out on it or just not interested.

Several indy developers have started bypassing publishers to pitch their games directly on Kickstarter. The problem hasn't been attracting enough money. It has been attracting TOO MUCH money. I'll continue buying games like Pillars of Eternity and Wasteland 2. There's still a niche for single player crpg's with convoluted plot twists and quests. Enjoy the new Elder Scrolls game. I'll pass on this one.

The main reason lifting costs are so high for space is because the weight of the fuel/oxidizer and container necessary to raise the object to orbit. The equation looks like: Payload + Fuel to Lift Payload + Fuel To Lift The Fuel + Fuel To Lift The Fuel That Lifts The Fuel That Lifts The Payload.....etc. This results in a very long dwindling tail of mass just to lift even a small object like a weather satelite. Until someone comes up with a better energy source space will be really expensive.

@k41m ....just as I am tired of people like you, k41m, confusing smart consumers balking at a poor value proposition, with poor wretched street people complaining they can't afford the luxuries in life. Those are different situations. Please learn to distinguish the difference.

I'll pay more for a product that is clearly superior to it's predecessor Skyrim. But this preview echoes what most beta testers have been saying. ESO is boring and MMO isn't the right fit for Elder Scrolls games. Looking at the this triple dip business model one gets the impression Zenimax and Bethesda traded their long-term reputation for a quick cash maker. If it succeeds will Fallout Online be next?

Hey Danny I have an idea for a game. It's called Cable Car Simulator. You start out as a normal operator on a standard route around SF. For mowing down pedestrians you get bonuses to make your car handle better or to add cable track to new locations.

Of course we'll need about $500,000 and a year or so of dev......Hey wait, where ya goin?

@chaosbrigade @Sprock26 This model is about maximizing their profit not covering their operating expenses.
