I kept most of the boxed pc games I purchased in the '90s. Nearly twenty years on it appears I should have traded them in after playing them! With Steam and GOG downloads available for $4.99, these games don't have value beyond the box art. Most of the discs are incompatible with modern operating systems making them unplayable.

Another question would be "How do we assign a value to stuff?" I know I suddenly respect my junk more when I see someone else pay a large sum for one like it on Ebay.

Nice to see Atari and Beamdog figured out how to share the Baldurs Gate IP.

@vatorus None would remember July 4th if it hadn't been for the French finishing what we started.

@horosavinXX @MW2ismygame @cratecruncher Right! To make a truly accurate comparison you would have to take into account the total cost of the console and games Vs. PC and games. But even if you only want to make the initial cost of the console the goal, I would argue that a nice PC could be had for $550. That assumes you reuse the existing case, keyboard, monitor, and hard drive. I built a gaming rig about a year ago for $550: $100 mobo, $150 cpu, $150 graphics card, $50 4G DDR, $100 windows 7. The rig can be improved and expanded as funds become available. Try doing that on an XBox1.

I like reading about hardware from a gamers perspective but I'll never buy this thing. Why not write an article about building a desktop rig for the price of an XBOX 1? That's the article everyone wants to read!

I figured that guy Mattrick was in a high speed wobble but I'm surprised he got pushed out so fast. Maybe M$ does have it together. Now that XB1 is back on track we should focus on getting them to reverse that Windows 8 disaster!

Whenever I see biologists tranquilize an animal in the wild I imagine the critter scampers off after the ordeal to warn his friends. "There were these grotesque aliens in white lab coats. They had these instruments and they PROBED ME!!!

I would love to have seen Mattrick's face the moment he heard Sony wouldn't match $500 with their new rig. "That's not how we play the game Sony! Don't you guys go to duopoly school!"

This game looks like some VERY talented writers and game designers were held back from making an epic blockbuster game by "marketing experts" looking to maximize sales and profits. What's sad is that their meddling to make it more accessible not only denied us a great game, it missed an even bigger profit than the meddlers were aiming for.
