@rex500: Are you aware that Microsoft didn't originally allow cross play while Sony did. This is why games like War Thunder came to the PS4 and you can play with people on the PC. Another reason was also because Microsoft policies with indie developers as well as free to play games were so obstructive.
I really don't see why bc is important. If you really want to play your old games then just keep your old console. There should be enough new games to play on a console that you don't want to play your old games, if you keep going back to playing your old games then you need to question the quality of new games coming out for that platform.
Bc can have a downside as well, because consoles often change architecture making a console bc can require additional hardware which can increase the cost of the console.
Don't get me wrong bc is nice to have and with consoles moving to the x86 architecture and most likely will continue sticking with it for the foreseeable future it may start to become common place, but not having bc shouldn't put people off buying a console.
@maximo: That's an extremely ignorant comment. How can you claim it's the best console ever made when it hasn't even been released? The PS2 is the most popular console ever and the Xbox one X won't come anywhere near to selling as many.
