The game is $9 on amazon and the "post pics of your game" thread really makes me want to play it. I don't have a joystick though and would rather not buy it for one game.

Another question: How does this game compare with Freelancer?

manningbowl135

It works either way. I've never used a joystick and KB/M works perfectly fine. The UI and controls are actually designed to work with either, so you won't have any problems. It's quite different to Freelancer. Freelancer is action oriented, whereas X3 is much, much slower paced.

It has a very steep learning curve when you first start playing it, but the possibilities are endless. You can trade your entire career without firing a single shot in combat, you have access to everything from scout fighters, to freighters, to huge capital ships loaded with artillery weapons and missiles/torpedoes. It also doesn't limit you to a single ship, every time you buy a new one it is added to your fleet, which you can change at will if you want to control a different ship, or fight instead of trade, or vice versa.

Once you get the hang of the controls and gameplay, you'll spend hours and hours playing and always find something new or interesting. It's also a lot more modern than Freelancer, so not only does it look and sound 100x better, it's also much more in depth and refined. The economy in X3 is based on supply and demand, instead of fixed prices like in Freelancer, so trading actually required some thought and work instead of just flying to the base with the highest price and selling all.

There's hundreds of different things that could be explained about the game, but it's best to just dive in and experience everything. Also, there's a newer version of X3 out now (Terran Conflict) which is much better than Reunion if you want to buy an X3 game. It adds a ton of content while maintaining the gameplay of Reunion, and also has a much more streamlined menu system, extra ships/sectors and thicker plots and missions (which Reunion is sadly quite lacking).

[QUOTE="RedxSniper"]I'd have to disagree with the whole price of game thing. With $55 you can grab Counter Strike, Orange Box and L4D. ( If you got them on sale or such..) (Just game examples) and you'll probably be playing those for a very long time... I played CS:S for over a year, and i've been playing L4D and Orange Box (specifically TF2) for 3 months now.. Wow is a good game but if you're going to compare it with prices to other games, you can get tons more out of other games.MechanicalSpork

Exactly, think about it. A year subscription to WoW is around $150 (actually more then that, but I rounded down). For this price, you could get 3 brand new games or around 10 solid games that you will never have to pay for again. An example could be Diablo 2, which has free mutliplayer and is an RPG. That's only 20 bucks and I've gotten a lot of time out of it. Would you rather pay 150 bucks for a load of games that you can always play later, or 150 bucks on a single, repetitive game? Not too hard of a choice.

You're comparing apples and oranges. WoW is nothing like a single player game, or even a MP game like Diablo. The entire dynamic of gameplay and experience is changed when it's an MMO. WoW has been improved and updated a lot since 2007 and level 60 end game. There's a lot more variety now on what to do when you hit level 80, and also a ton of content to choose from. And you can hardly compare it to MP FPS. What if he doesn't like FPS? That cancels every single game that was just mentioned out. I played WoW from beta until quitting about 4 months ago, and hardly ever got bored. If you are finding it repetitive or no longer fun, quit. No harm done. Not even trying it based on someone elses opinion of the game (the game 2 years ago, no less) is misguided. People need to make their own decisions, especially about MMOs, which are a different experience for every person.

[QUOTE="soulfood4"]People must be getting confused here, underrated movies are GOOD movies, not Tron and Super Mario Bros., that never got there due creditsoulfood4

I think Tron is BOTH overlooked and very underrated. It has a 68% even on Rottentomatoes.

that movie was the funniest movie i ever saw, and i dont belive it was suppose to be a comedy. It was pretty terrible to me

Key words there being "to me".

My high school math teacher was pretty funny. He was an older Irish man, used to tell all these long winded war stories which would get progressively more and more outlandish, even though he'd never served in the military. Always good for a laugh, especially when you were enduring double math periods.

White supremacists hate black people, not the actual word "black" ;)

This works both ways. Some Arab childrens shows portray Jews and westerners as pigs and animals, drinking Arab/Muslim childrens blood. Not movies, CHILDREN programming. If you want to complain about stereotypes and typecasting, look at the entire picture, not the one sided "only white people are racist" mentality.

[QUOTE="cru3"][QUOTE="Guybrush_3"]

Sexier? Australia is fatter than the US.

Guybrush_3

That doesn't automatically mean every male adult in Australia is fat.

When you said sexier I assumed you ment on average, and I was just saying that on average australians are fatter.

Being overweight doesn't mean someone can't be sexy. Not everyone cares about things like that. I'm not overweight. I have a pretty good sized circle of friends, who also aren't overweight. Even if you are, it doesn't necessarily mean you're unhealthy, or ugly. Or even any less virile than a normal sized person, to use Videodogg's original compliment.

Am I the only guy who doesn't like DeathMetal? I mean, just about anyone with a mind can play heavy cords and scream into a microphone. When this music plays, I can't help but plug my ears. What do you guys think of metal?

angusclone2
You know, screaming like they do, every day for years and years isn't as easy as you seem to think it is. It may seem easy, but there's definite technique to doing it correctly, and doing it in a way that doesn't completely destroy your throat. Music is subjective, either way. It's better just to enjoy what you enjoy and ignore the rest.
