[QUOTE="hip-hop-cola2"][QUOTE="Euroshinobi"]its not silly, ofcourse other countries make films, but the MAJORITY of the box office hits are american, other countries spend millions on american films
Euroshinobi
If you think everything at the box office is great then you go ahead.
"other countries spend millions on american films" what? when? You mean buying them? yeh, we do, because its all that we see in the cinema and in the shops
And if you want to argue that american production = american film, Then your right, america created all that is cinema and have had the most influence.... (if paying for it counts as actually making it)
yes america did create all that is cinema today, set the pace for Drama, Horror, Comedy, Action, everything, where are the great inspirational classic brit films ? please i'd like to know, so i can laugh, really you cant argue it There's really not much point even attempting to argue it, or anything else on this subject since you're obviously not open to anybody elses viewpoints.[QUOTE="cru3"]..They weren't American productions. They may have been distributed by American film companies, but the productions were international. Both series were filmed outside the US, by international directors (mostly) and staff, plus actors not from the US. And if you seriously think movies like Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings would have had ANY trouble being distributed by studios outside the US, you're deluded.Euroshinobi
all i care about is when i look them up they have US listed beside them, they are american films, i really have no interest in where they were shot the only reason the harry potter & LOTR films exist is because of americans, lets face it, british quality "CGI" has never been good in film, they hardly use it ever, really, if Britain had done the Harry poter & LOTR movies i gurantee you, they would pale in comparison to the american films britain has yet to release a Spiderman, or Iron man, or The Dark Knight or any film using grade A CGI lol
The majority of physical effects for LotR were done by Weta, a New Zealand fx company. First you said the productions were American, now you're saying you don't care that the productions weren't Americans, because some of the CGI was? Americans had little, if anything to do with LotR or Harry Potter beyond distribution. CGI is an incredibly small part of what makes a quality film. They wouldn't exist without Americans? The books were written by Brits, the movies produced by Kiwis, and more Brits. Made in the UK, and New Zealand. I don't know how much clearer an explanation you need. They're not American films.[QUOTE="esbastica"][QUOTE="Euroshinobi"] We got scarface too :P really this thread is dumb........because its a Country that hardly makes decent movies (Britain) going against a country that releases new movies like every 3 days haEuroshinobi
is that supposed to be a joke?
How is it a joke ? count how many films in your cinema's are american and how many are british, YES even films that uses british actors like Harry potter, or The lord of the rings ARE american movies simply because americans produced it, i mean british rock is good......but im sorry there is no country that can take on america when it comes to film, its a global icon, and every british/foreign film will be mimicking an american one, including those brit gangster films
Lord of the Rings? Peter Jackson is from New Zealand, dude. All 3 films were produced and filmed entirely in New Zealand. And Harry Potter? Most of the producers have been British, except for two. The guy that did the 3rd movie was Mexican. The entire cast was predominately British/Irish. How exactly are these American movies again?
