Be warned, that suggestion might cause other errors. Or crash it. In which case, don't do it next time.

ToU says we can't talk about drugs. That's his way of saying this thread is probably going to get locked once a mod notices it.

To stay on topic, a half-decent legal one is Sinicuichi. Turns everything a little yellow, and makes you forget a LOT. I was talking to a friend of mine and just stopped mid-sentence and didn't say anything again for 5 minutes. Also messes with your ears a little bit.

A lot of the registry entry stuff is usually in there for copy protection, so the player can't boot without a CD. My advice to you is to make a backup of the .exe that starts the game (rename the extension to .bak, .old, or .orig, etc.), and find a NoCD crack to run it. These circumvent the registry value check. Of course, you'd still have to deal with the missing saves, but it works with most games. There are still some that need a CD to boot, though.

Google 'Music for Videogames v.1', it's a mix that Pitchfork put together of songs that play fun and are also pretty rad. Besides that, ANYTHING by Soulwax.

I may be pushing my power limits as it is, though

QM3K

This is the most important part. If you're straddling the maximum wattage and/or amperage, odds are crashes will happen often and will potentially mess up your computer. I imagine the reason playing in DirectX 8 works is due to less work on the part of the GPU, meaning it's not draining as much power.

Double check the wattage and the output on the +12V rails of your CPU. I do know that 9600's in SLI require at least 36 amps to function without any issues, and if you don't have at least 20 amps on 3 +12V rails, you're probably going to run into problems. As for how many watts you use, google 'power supply calculator' to see how much your gear may be using.

Um...CoD4 IS more popular. Which I'm sure has been said, but I'm not going to read through all the pages. It had more players last month than Halo 3 did, and over 7 million overall. Whether or not it is fun is entirely opinion, but the numbers kinda speak for themselves.

My friends made me pay 12 bucks to see the 3D version with them on opening night. Terrible waste of money. I'd have been fine with it if Neil Gaiman was the sole screen writer. The other guy saw fit to put a really stupid 'he's naked but we can't see his thing!' gag in there that ran for 10 minutes which just ruined the whole movie for me.

That, and 'epic' dialogue is almost never done right nowadays. The last epic I saw that didn't come across as having cheesy dialogue was Conan the Barbarian.

Drugs like weed cause sperm damage, kill brain cells, over time cause lung cancer and cause other harmful things. Why do people insist on thinking drugs are safe. Also to the people who say that some of the healthiest people smoke pot. Do you know them personally and if so how healthy are they.airg6

Just wanna point out that those underlined items are fallacies. Sort of. It causes sperm damage, but less than most of the completely legal substances we ingest in everyday life (several types of food-coloring do this, that are in a lot of our foods).

It does not kill brain cells. The one study that showed thes only used 4 test subjects and no controls. It was also discovered that the subjects were almost suffocated with smoke, which is the only reason any brain cell loss was found.

And it still has not been proven to cause lung cancer. The most extensive research generally shows no correlation, but that one is still up in the air.

However, frequent use (at least 5 days a week, at least one cigarette-sized joint each of those days) will almost undoubtedly cause chronic bronchitis and sometimes emphysema.

You're still right, almost all illegal drugs are harmful. Some, like weed, are just bad in large amounts for extended periods of time, in the same way that too much beer and pizza will give you kidneystones. They're not helpful (THC has some pain-relieving properties, but you have to smoke a lot, which is hard on your lungs, or use synthetic stuff like Marinol), but they're not harmful, either.
