Baltimore or thereabouts. Firaxis, Bethesda Softworks, Big Huge Games are all within a 15-minute drive from my house. If all goes well, I'll be working at one of those places in about 2 and a half years (as a programmer). I might even get an internship at BHG next year. There are also quite a few indie studios, and EA just opened a small branch up here.

This is besides Vancouver/Silicon Valley.

It is the reward mechanism. The character is supposed to be looking forward to getting cake, as her encouragement for doing all of these tests.

They're also doing The Watchmen, which damn well better be as good as the graphic novel.

[QUOTE="fepepinar"]I'm glad metal is not a fad. It would certainly ruin it. Let only metalcore be the 'popular' one. D:
USSJAndrew

A. Hardcore isn't metal, it's a fusion genre.

b. If it was metal, it would be the only metal worth listening to:)

There is a distinction between Hardcore and Metalcore, you know..Metalcore largely contains bands who look at At The Gates - Slaughter of the Soul as the ultimate album, and the melody almost never strays from the same base note, and in general is way more angsty. Hardcore is a different kind of music almost entirely, and much better.

I should mention that the reason I have a 'metal' avatar is because that dude is playing an 11-string bass, which is sick. And no, it's not a Chapman Stick, that's a straight-up 11-string bass.

Ragdoll: Great for shooters with spacious maps, and unconventional physics. See: Halo 3, and to some extent, Half-Life 2.

Animations: All other kinds of shooters, much more close quarters, that are going for a realism approach.

Regarding the quote about people posting obscure band names...it's part of my quest to bring good bands to light, unless I do feel like being a jerk and listing a bad band that no one's heard of. For example: Baroness. Great band, love them, will post them in WAYLT threads or 'looking for music' threads for at least another few months. When I'm being a jerk: Vlad Tepes. Is famous for usually only releasing 300 LP's (in analog format) for each album, and their albums have sold for as much as $10,000 on eBay. However, they have some of the most intentionally bad production ever, and in general are just a mediocre kvlt BM band. I already listen to a lot (A LOT) of music as it is, so I feel that only the really good bands should get my free advertising. I can't help it if most of those bands are somewhat hard-to-find.

The biker chick with the whip in BattleToads/Double Dragons. Incredibly difficult game.

Achewood>XKCD>all other webcomics. CAD was never very good, vgcats is slowly losing momentum (he doesn't update on anything remotely resembling a regular basis), and Penny-Arcade is at the level where they'll put it out even if they know it's not funny, because they have a huge enough fanbase that it doesn't matter.
