So you're telling me I don't have full rights to the physical property I've purchased?

I know the point you're getting at, but there is an unknown variable concerning DD. It hasn't been around long enough for us to understand how our games are insured if something were to happen like Steam going out of business. I get what you're saying, owning a disc just gives you the right to use the intellectual property, it doesn't mean you actually own the content. That said, you can still dust off an NES and play the cartridge games with full confidence that it will never be taken away. Same goes for anything else physical.
I hate to break it to you, but eventually all cartridges will stop working. Most floppy disks from the 1980s don't work anymore either, and the only reason that a lot of retro games are even available is because their ROMs were dumped and put on the internet before the last disks corroded. Carts are a little more robust than magnetic media, but they still suffer from the problem of natural corrosion and biodegrading. never had a broken cartridge in my life.So we're back in the N64 days...charizard1605which completely destroys now.
