#3 Arrested Development

File:Arrested Development logo.png

Arrested Development is an American sitcom based around the Bluth family,an infamous and once successful family, who find themselves the subject of much controversy and media attention, after the Grandfather of the family is charged withconstructing Holiday homes abroad, particularly in Iraq. George Bluth is grabbed by the government and imprisoned (this takes place in the first episode), leaving the fate of the company resting in his most capable sons (Michael Bluth) hands. Michael Bluth is a hard-working, honest and extremely loyal man, who struggles to control both his notorious Company, and also his spoilt, lazy family.

Other members of the Bluth family include Gob, the eldest brother, an unsuccessful professional magician, who often is the cause of grievances and problems for his younger brother. He is an excellent liar and sneak, and proves this many times throughout the show. Deep down though, Gob is hurt as he never pleased his father, and he looks up to his younger, more successful brother Michael, but he rarely admits this to others. Michaels twin sister, Lindsay, who has grown accustomed to the flamboyant lifestIe of a daughter of a successful businessman still lives and shops as if the family is rich. She's extremely lazy and would go to a lot of trouble to not doing any work, or even seeing her husband, a failed Psychologist-turned actor Tobias Funke.

There are a lot more characters in the show, but I don't want to spoil too much, and everyone should definately check it out. When I first saw the DVD I immediately assumed it would be a crummy, unfunny sitcom, but I was completely suprised at just howgreat it was. The show only has 3 seasons, and there is an active movement within fans to bring the show back for a fourth, and I believe there is a lot of potential for another season, even taking into account the slight decline in quality in the third and secondseasons, were some of the jokes and stories became very farfetched and over the top, however I have never seen an episode that doesn't make me laugh!

#4 The Simpsons

The Simpsons is a world famous animated series based around the lives of fictional cartoon family... The Simpsons. The fact the show has been nominated best TV series of the 20th century, and won hundreds of awards, as well as a star on the Hollywood walk of fame shows that no introduction is necessary. Everyone on GameSpot will have seen one or more episodes of The Simpsons!

However it is widely thought (amongst critics and fans) that The Simpsons has been declining in quality ever since Season 10. It now runs into its late 20th season. Myself, I own and have thoroughly watched the first 12 seasons, and I am still enjoying all of them, but I definitely have my favourites. I've seen later episodes on television (probably after season 18-ish) and can safely say it is definitely not as funny as it was (the occasional lol, but not as witty or intelligent, more dumbed down).

So anyway, I will continue to buy the DVDs as they are released in the UK, until I get to a season I find unfunny!

Thanks for reading, Show number 3 will most likely be up by the end of this week.

#5 Father Ted

Father Ted is a British comedy set on the fictional Irish island, Craggy Island. It is based around the lives of 3 exiled priests – Father Ted, Father McGuire and Father Hackett - living on the Islands parish with their housekeeper Mrs Doyle. The show ran for 3 seasons, until the star (Morgan) unfortunately died a day after filming of the final episode. Father Ted is an ambitious Catholic priest who was exiled into Craggy Island Parish after a stolen charity funding problem only refered to as "that Lourdes thing". He has to put up with the idiotic Father Dougal McGuire, and the violent drunk Father Jack Hackett who have also been dumped into the Parish, due to scandals and incidents similar to Teds.

Cast

Father Ted Crilly – Dermot Morgan
Father Dougal McGuire – Ardal O'Hanlon
Father Jack Hackett – Frank Kelly
Mrs Doyle – Pauline McLynn

Memorable Quotes

Ted: Once again Dougal, you've made me look like a complete fool in front of real people. Thanks very much.
Dougal: To be honest Ted, I forgot you had the money. I was just going to tell you... your fly's open.

Ted: What was it [Jack] used to say about the needy? He had a term for them.
Dougal: A shower of bastards.

#6 American Dad

American Dad is a cartoon series created by the same people who made Family Guy, but it is a lot less well known, and less appreciated as well. In my opinion American Dad is more witty, intelligent and even more entertaining than Family Guy. When you watch American Dad you will definately notice it is made by the same guys, due to similar voice acting (Seth McFarlane once again does most of the voices), and similar art and animation. However the humour and writing in my opinion is totally different, really showing how the creators can make you laugh without being excessively random as is often the case with Family Guy.

The series follows the "Smith" family, Stan Smith, the father of the family isa CIA agent working under Deputy Director Bullock (voiced by Patrick Stewart!). American Dad is a lot less random than Family Guy, but the show can still be very "wacky". For onethe family is harbouring an illegal alien (an actual alien).

If you haven't seen American Dad yet, I definately recommend it to you! It's an excellent cartoon and shouldn't be overlooked!

#7 Family Guy

Some of you will be rejoicing, a show you finally recognise! Others won't be so happy, and a lot of people will be thinking it was inevitable! Family Guy has made my list at number 7. I couldn't really not mention it, as it is definately one of the most popular cartoons around today, and in my opinion one of the funniest.

ADDITIONAL: NUMBER 9 ON MY LIST HAS BEEN REPLACED BY THE FAST SHOW.

I won't be updating the original blog so post any comments you have about the Fast Show you have here It's another British show, so probably another unknown one for most of you!

Bad Company 2 Review

So I have written my first review in a long time, so if you have time check it out here.

The last reviews I written were years ago, and I summed the game up in a hasty few paragraphs. This time though I have written a lot more about the game, and the review almost resembles a proper review!

So thanks, read it, rate it, and post any comments you have here!

#8 Blackadder

Blackadder is a historical Sitcom starring Rowan Atkinson and Tony Robinson. There are four series, each based in different periods of British History (1485, 1558, Early 19th Century and 1917). Blackadder and Baldrick are characters who star in all four seasons, accompanied by other characters played by Hugh Laurie and Stephen Fry (amongst others). Blackadder (Atkinson) a cruel, exceptionally sarcastic and cowardly anti-hero, and his servant Baldrick (Robinson) find themselves in many hilarious and often dangeroussituations.

I don't know if this series is popular in America, or in factanywhere outside the UK, but it is a cIassic show and brilliantly written. Everyone should see it!

Level 40!

Today I reached Level 40 on Gamespot, also know as "Abobo", which according to Wikipedia is a suburb of the city of Abidjan in the Cote D'Ivoire! Right!

Reaching level 40 really made me realise how long I've been on the site for lol, it's seems so much higher than 39!

Bad Company 2

Tomorrow my pre-order of Battlefield Bad Company 2 will arrive, for those who don't know what it is, it's a First Person shooter from a series well known for it's massive battlefields which make use of land, air and sea vehicles. I have never been a huge BF fan, in fact my first BF game was Bad Company 1, but I really loved that game, and the demo for BC 2 just blew me away, so I pre-ordered it straight away :P

So I am very excited for tomorrow, mainly because I want a new multiplayer game to play, MW 2 is starting to get boring for me, and AvP couldn't keep me entertained for more than a week :P. So I can't wait to get this new game!
I saw a vid yesterday which pretty much shows a lot of things I am thinking myself, check it out.

NOTE FOR AFTER WATCHING VIDEO: I still love MW 2, and I am by no means done with it like the video suggests, but the video raises a lot of points which are true about MW 2, and one of the biggest things I am looking forward to in BC2 is the team based games, I'm sick of playing Search and Destroy on MW2 and spending mymillionth round, dead, watching some guy camp for kills to boost his ratio rather than going for the OBJECTIVE! BC2 won't be like that, because you get points for doing what you are supposed to do!

Thanks for reading!
