Red Dead Redemption REVIEWED!

I haven't done a review in a while so I decided that, with it being such an awesome game, Red Dead Redemption deserved to get my review treatment. So if you guys could read the review and give it a big thumbs up, I would be very grateful! :)

Click here to see the review!

Only the third ever game given a 10 by me and I hope it convinces anyone who hasn't yet bought Red Dead to do so. It is a hell of a game!

And with Wimbledon and the World Cup going on at the moment, I found this picture very relative and amusing:

England have a massive game against Slovenia tomorrow! We need to win to go through! Come on England!

For the first time ever...

... I have awarded two perfect 10 out of 10's in one year. The awesome Red Dead Redemption joins Mass Effect 2 and GTA IV in the very exclusive perfect 10 club. And with games like BioShock 2 scoring a 9, 2010 has been one amazing year for games so far... and we're only in June!

So, as most of you will know. I won't give a game a score until I have completed the main storyline/single-player and after 24 hours (of gametime), I completed the main story in Red Dead Redemption last night. And, as you now know, I awarded it a perfect 10. Why? Well, if there's one characteristic of a perfect 10 game, it's this... I can't stop thinking about the game even when I've turned the console off! The same was with Red Dead, even two hours after finishing playing, I was thinking about how to get the US Marshall outfit, or thinking about where the story could go from here. I'm not going to go into much detail about the game, as I'll leave that to the review that is coming soon and I'm not going to much into the ending as I don't want to ruin it for people who maybe haven't got there yet.

If you haven't played it... DO IT NOW!

I'm also going to be starting My Favourite Developers List very soon, so keep your eye out for that!

As for the England performance, I'm not even going to go into it.

Possibly the worst looking console EVER!

So, anyone who knows me here on GS will know that I firmly believe that the Xbox 360 is the best out of the three consoles. And yesterday Microsoft showed off how much they don't care about people like me and how they care about people who when they hear the word Halo, they think of Beyonce. CASUALS!

The main story from Microsoft's E3 Keynote was the new designed console. Wow, that thing is ugly.

The thing looks like PC Case that was designed by the Terminator!

Stop me if you think I'm wrong, but does this make sense. You try and make your console more approachable (with Kinect) then you make the console look like.... THAT! It is seriously horrific what Microsoft have done to the 360 and I feel sorry for anyone who is now forced to buy this version of the 360. I'm just hoping mine holds out.

Okay, so, due to football commitments. I missed the Gears 3, Fable III and Halo: Reach demos but I've watched bits and pieces on the Internet. They all look good, but what's the surprise? We already know about these games, we've seen them before! Heck, I've even played Halo: Reach in the multiplayer Beta. MGS: Rising, again, looked good, but it's already been announced!

Also, Project Natal. Now renamed Kinect. Why did they spell it wrong? They showed how amazing it is, and, to be fair, it does look amazing. But what annoyed me were the games. They were ALL for Casuals! All corny, knock off's from the Wii!

------------------------------------------

So, that's what I thought of Microsoft's awful E3 conference. Just show games we know about, ruin the look of the 360 and try and release some party games.

I think I'm going to take a look at Sony's E3 Conference which starts very soon and if I'm impressed, I think I may be thinking of picking up a PS3 later this year. Yes, I did just say that.

EDIT- I just realised Sony's conference is tomorrow. FAIL.

------------------------------------------

Also, Red Dead Redemption is so sucking me in right now. With my exams starting to wind down, I've had some more time to play it and I am so, so addicted. Last night, I played it for 4 hours, completing just one main story line mission. I spent the majority of the time just roaming around the gorgeous land finding strangers and playing Poker. I love this game so much.

Bounty Hunting is HARD!

Hey guys. I'm feeling pretty relaxed this Sunday lunchtime so with a lot of things to touch on, I'd thought I'd make a blog.

So for those who didn't know, my 360 broke last weekend but I took it down to a local repair shop where I live and they had supposedly fixed it. Well, I gotta say, I'm still having problems. It is an improvement because, before I sent my 360 in to repair, it wasn't reading any discs at all but now, when I put some games into the disc drive it pops up with 'Play DVD'. IT'S NOT A DVD!!!!! However, once the game is read, I have no problems at all when I'm playing the game. It's really weird and I'm comtemplating taking it back.

However, when my 360 has read the game, it is usually Red Dead Redemption. Which I am loving! Yesterday, I was looking for hours for one of those 'Hungarian Half-Bred' horses (because their really, really fast) but I just couldn't find one. Then I accepted a bounty hunter job, determined to catch the bad guy alive to get the achievement for returning a bounty alive. So, I killed his guards and lassoed him as he tried to get anyway. Then, as I was returning him to Chupurosa, my horse fell down a cliff and died. POOR HORSEY! :(

Then I faced the hilarious battle of running the length of Mexico with a really... round ;) guy on my back fighting off bandits. It was so, so fun. I know I've promised his before, but I WILL review Red Dead when I'm finished with. Although, my friend informs me I'm still away off.

e3

So, E3 is coming up. And (I think) Microsoft's Keynote is tomorrow and there are a few games I'm hoping to see:

1. Fallout: New Vegas

2. Mass Effect 3

3. Batman: Arkham Asylum 2

4. I Am Alive

5. Gears of War 3

6. Halo: Reach (Singleplayer gameplay)

I'm also interesting in seeing some more of Natal but after the price tag was released (£150), I'm pretty sure I won't be getting it.

Jarhead

Jarhead

Being a fan of war movies, I thought I would enjoy Jarhead. But as I was watching it, I realised, IT IS NOT A WAR FILM! And if it was intended to be, then I am worried. It was more focused on soldier's feeling in war and as good as that is, you can't really base a film on that for two hours. I was pretty disappointed by it and the only good thing was Jake Gyllenhaal's performance.

5/10

And I'll leave you with a picture that has defined my weekend....

My 360 is back!

So before we get to the E3 stuff, I want to talk about a few things. Firstly, exams. Today, I had two exams. One was Maths and the other one was Graphics. The Maths exam was pretty easy and I believe that I should've got at least a B. :) And Graphics wasn't easy, but no where near as hard as I thought it would be. Next week is my very last full week of school and I only have 9 exams left. :)

Also, the World Cup is HERE! Because of my graphics exam, I missed the opening ceremony and the first half of the South Africa v Mexico game, but I saw the only goal so far and it was awesome! England also play tomorrow against the USA!

Come on England!

I also got my 360 back yesterday from repair so you'll find me tonight playing Red Dead Redemption and playing the new Modern Warfare 2 map pack. If anyone wants to play along... add me on LIVE.

Now I know why Bill Gates is so rich

In case you guys didn't know, my Xbox isn't working. So on Monday, I rang Microsoft's excellent customer support (sarcasm) and some woman who could not speak English informed me that my Xbox had ran out of warranty and it could cost....

£89!

And then she added: Including VAT.

I'm sorry but it's not even like it's quick service. They ship all broken European 360's to Germany and it takes over two weeks. So instead I took my broken 360 to a little repair shop near to where I live and they would do it for £60 and said it might be done for tomorrow (Thursday). So, hopefully I might have my Xbox back tomorrow. :D

bill gates

So first thing to happen when I get my Xbox back is to complete Red Dead Redemption! I was throughly enjoying it before the laser broke on my console and everyone else seems to have completed it so I need to catch up! I also want to play the new Modern Warfare 2 map pack, so if anyone wants to join me, add me on LIVE.

And tomorrow, I'm only two weeks away from finishing school forever! The whole of July and August to play some games! I may have about 9 exams in the way, but I can't wait!

Also, E3 is coming up but to be honest, I'm not that excited. The only games that Microsoft will show that will interest me are Halo: Reach and Gears 3. Reach doesn't look amazing and Gears 3 is ages away. I'm more excited for THE WORLD CUP!

england

COME ON ENGLAND!

Who do you think will win?

Broken Xbox 360 :(

After about 3 hours of non-stop Maths revision, I thought I had earned some enjoyment playing the new Modern Warfare 2 Resurgance Map Pack. After paying 1200 Microsoft Points and downloading the map pack, I put my Modern Warfare 2 disc in and it instead of popping up 'Play Modern Warfare 2' it just said 'Open Disc'. I tried again, and again but it would just not read. I also tried Red Dead Redemption and Halo 3, neither of these worked.

Another annoying thing is Xbox's helplines close at 5PM here in the UK and I noticed my Xbox wasn't working at 5:30PM, so I now have to wait till tomorrow before I can even start to get my 360 working again.

So I won't be able to finish Red Dead Redemption or start to play the new MW2 map pack for around two weeks, but it isn't actually a bad time to break. I have lots of exams coming up so I need to revise and also:

world cup

The World Cup starts in 5 days!

I can't play any games!

I'm seriously hungover from a mates' birthday party last night, therefore, I have a banging headache, so bear with me guys. ;)

My Xbox 360 must think I've died or something because it hasn't even been switched on in 9 days because I've been too busy revising for exams, going on holiday or other social things. Everyone else seems to be completing Red Dead Redemption, when I am no where near from doing so! RDR is a great game though, I'm loving it so much.

Also, MW2's new map pack was released on Thursday...

I think I will be getting it when I leave school. Forever. June 29th. I am going to do so much gaming after then!

Also, E3 is coming up, but I'm not excited at all. :(

A little joke to end: What do you call a Chinese man with one leg?

Tie one shoe.

;)

Going on holiday guys.

Okay, it's times like this I wish GameSpot had some sort of Twitter thing. Because really, I don't want to make a blog, I just want to update you all quickly. I'm going on holiday to Devon till about Wednesday of next week. So, I'm afraid, I won't be active in any of the Unions or commenting on your blogs. :(

I also got no gaming in today, so nothing to really talk about. But I am thinking of getting Super Mario Galaxy 2. The reviews have been awesome, but I hardly play my Wii. So, I really don't know what to do. Help me guys?

See you when I get back.
