Any of you going to PAX East?
Yup...it blew my mind when I found out too. The best is yet to come folks.
Tune in here at 4pm PST (11pm GMT) to see @Jeff return.
Somebody pinch me. WOOHOOO!
This year just keeps getting weirder and weirder.
And by weird I mean awesome. Naturally. That's why I dont write stuff on this site. Because I'm always substituting suitable words for ones that don't make any sense. Honestly, listen to one of the scripts for Escape from Mount Stupid sometimes. It frequently makes no sense at all.
Anyway.
So the show previously known as Bluffer's Guide, now known as Escape From Mount Stupid has been doing pretty well. People have been watching it a bunch and apparently I'm not that hate-able. I think it's the accent. Hooreckonray!
As such we're taking a break and piling a bunch of effort into launching Season 2 with a bang. Johnny is now helping me behind the scenes (and hopefully in front at some stage) and we're currently scripting the first six episodes of the second season. The first episode will be live on March 19th, and it's going to be a big one. Trust me.
But even more exciting is the news that I'm flying out to PAX East in Boston in little over a month to not only attend one of the best game community expos in the known universe, but also to host a panel / live show over the course of the weekend.
Crazy right? Yea I'm not sure I believe it either.
I'm still trying to work out exactly how I'm going to do it without looking like a complete tool, but I reckon it's going to be like a live version of the show, talking about how we produce video at GameSpot and the skills required to be a video journalist. Q&A all that jazz.
I'll be up on Friday, April 6th at 5:30pm in the Arachnid theatre at the expo.
That's all for now. If you're going to be around let me know, and if you end up being one of the handful of people who actually turn up, know that I will love you forever.
Can't wait if I'm honest. Exciting few months ahead. And by exciting I mean weird. Naturally.

And to finish, here's a picture of me not playing a video game.
You wait months to get back to podcasting and then two come at once!
Gamespot UK Podcast: http://uk.gamespot.com/pages/features/ukpodcast/index.php
Myself, Johnny and Mark talk about games and stuff.
Citizen Gamecast: http://www.citizengame.co.uk/2012/01/gamecast-240112/
I visit my old site and a podcast I hosted for 4 years to talk pretty candidly about what it's like working at Gamespot.
Just in case you're interested. What podcasts do you guys listen to? I've been addicted to The Joe Rogan Experience for the past few months after Seb reccomended it. Nothing to do with games, but loads of chat about psychedelic drugs and comedy.
And every blog needs a picture so heres a pic of myself and the lads playing gears. With a cat.
Happy 2010 everyone [edit: sorry, 2012....wow, great start. I must still be sick].
Sorry it took so long to post it (I was sick for most of the Christmas break) but here's the list of the 84 games in the "A Year in the Life of a Gamer - 2011" video I done-maded last week. Mostly in order I think!
Thanks for all the feedback on the video btw, it was a sort of love-letter to Gamespot as much as it was to gaming. I wanted to make something unique that summed up what it's like to be a proud gamer and judging by the comments I didn't completely arse it up. Horay! Anyway....

Thanks to everyone who posted on my previous blog and contributed to this video. I'm sorry we couldn't use everyone's but all your thoughts and ideas were fundamental in how we scripted the entire piece. I was chuffed (but not at all surprised) by the insightful opinions we received, and we're certainly going to do this more often.

Hope you all like it. As ever, please give any and all feedback about our video content right here.
Thanks again everyone. And if you're playing MW3 much, add me on XBL for some games. I'm at level 38 right not but need some wingmen in Spec Ops badly! My username is dannyodwyer on Xbox Live.
Enjoy your respective weekends!
Yo,
So myself and the guys are working on a piece about genre fatigue - basically how bored a lot of people have gotten with a specific type of game. The genre we're focusing on is military shooters with an eye on COD/MW.
We're early in the process of writing but we'd like to include input from Gamespot users in some sort of way; flashing up quotes on the screen, mentioning them in the peice or some such. It's a subject with much varying opinion so we want to make sure we cover as many of them as possible
So if you want to be involved, post what you think in reply to this post, or if you're not sure what you think, just answer the following questions.
1) Are you fatigued with shooters? Yes/No and explain why.
2) Do you play shooters for the campaign or multiplayer?
3) What is your favourite shooter series?
4) Are there other genre's you used to love that you don't enjoy playing anymore? Why?
And just because I hate posting blogs with an image, here's a shot of me wielding a massive purple member.
This past weekend I was part of the Gamespot crew at the London Comicon known as MCM Expo. We had a stage show with a bunch of games, and here are my favourites. Simple eh?
1) Trials Evolution:
Remember how insanely addicted everybody got to Trials HD a few years back. Well expect it happen again, except much harder come the release of this bad boy. Not only are the levels now spread across gorgeous outdoor arena's, floating sky tracks and even vast planes of water - but they're also no longer on a straight horizontal plane. Levels curve to the left and right, with a locked camera swinging around to cover the action. It's also got a hilarious 2-4 player multiplayer racing mode which had the croud cheering like a pack of crazy convention antendees. Which they were.
2) Street Fighter X Tekken
I don't play Tekken, and though I own SF4 I guess I don't really "play" it that much either. But there's something about SFXT that really appeals to me. Maybe it's because for once I was surrounded by people who could answer my n00bish questions, but I feel like I really connected with how that game operates. I think it may be time I invested in a fight stick too. We had an amazing stage tournament with an incredibly excitable croud. It helped that the animation and visual effects were so hypnotic.
3) Saints Row The Third
Sometimes it looks like all the craziness of SRTT is going to make it come apart at the seems, but it just about manges to get away with it. It was certainly made the croud laugh a lot. Great sence of fun.
4) Asura's Wrath
I never play these types of games but A DUDE GETS STABBED THROUGH THE BLOODY PLANET!!!!!!! Game is nuts. Want!
Currently Playing:
- Battlefield 3
- Arkham City
- Gears of War 3
- RAGE
Currently Working on:
- Call of Duty Bluffer's Guide
- Elder Scrolls Bluffer's Guide

YAY - COME PLAY WIT UZ!
Hey all,
So I'm looking to do something different with Bluffer's Guide this time around. First of all, seen as I'm still doing them about games series' (as so many new releases are coming out, this won't be the case come mid November) I've had to launch them very close to the games release date. The next episode, about the Battlefield series, will be coming out a fortnight ahead of BF3's release in an effort to get more of a conversation going. Hopefully this means it'll be up on Friday, but it may slip to Monday as we're working on a few cool projects this week.
As I've a bit more time to play with I thought it would be cool to try somthing different on the show - namely involve user involvement to get the script together. This may involve direct quoting submission or just using the information to create a more accurate guide - honestly I haven't decided yet and it sort of depends on the submissions.
So to that end, I'd love to hear what you guys think of the past games in the Battlefield series, namely; 1942, Vietnam, BF2, Bad Company and the various expansion packs and mods (Desert Combat especially).
Drop your thoughts in the comments below and lets see what happens :)
