@HarlemVIP: A common phenomenon I've witnessed over the years, and certainly over the past few years is that gamers who spend a lot of time on gaming media have lost their ability to think independently. Had IGN and Gamespot as well as a few big voices in the gaming industry given this game a high score at the beginning (and they have been kind to mediocre games before, especially those from indie developers) I'm almost certain the gamers would have followed.
We all have heard and read about Andromeda's bumpy road to release and I think everyone would agree that the game, in the state it was released, was poor and certainly we should criticise EA for this. But I think the expectations from this game were blown out of proportion too. Myself however, like you HarlemVIP, only bought the game after EA had put it on sale (for a mere €20) after around 8 months from the release. Sure there existed the filler and repetitive side missions which blew but the main story was great, the characters were as strong as any ME title and the combat was a dozen times better than anything with the Mass Effect label on it previously. Maybe some people let nostalgia get in their way cause there are a hundred ways I can criticise the original trilogy too.
Personally I don't think EA/Bioware had much hopes for ME:A, but they also didn't expect such a negative reception either. It is a shame the one of my favourite franchises, and certainly my favourite Sci-Fi franchise of all time (along with Dead Space series) have been put on the shelf indefinitely because they didn't financially meet their master's high expectations. Or the lunatics who bashed it before they even played the final product.
