Get a grip on life AMD fans. According to Steam Hardware & Software Survey of December, AMD's share of CPU market has gone down from 17% in August to 8.7% in December. That is, their already dwindling share of PC gaming market has halved in just a mere 4 months!
Same with GPUs, AMD went from 18% in July to 9% in December. Again halved in just 5 months!
AMD are fighting a fast-losing battle when supposedly it has been their best years in recent times. I can see in a decade we won't be hearing about AMD and their mediocre CPUs and worse, their yesteryear technology GPUs and drivers.
Relic are probably the best guys out there to do AoE justice. I just hope they learned their lessons from Dawn of War 3 and not scrap a working formula to introduce new things just to try to get into eSports, thus betraying all their long term fans.
But we will see. The world these days is so consumed by money that I will hold my horses until I see some gameplay footage.
Do we need better CPUs for gaming though? I feel like GPUs have always been the bottleneck when it comes to gaming, not the CPU. Not to mention GPUs get old quickly whereas you can still play the latest games on an old CPU provided you got a high-end GPU.
