Tetris Effect because Tetris is one of the closest things to a perfect game, and this version delivers something extra as another layer in a way that really adds to it, especially in VR.

But perfection does not mean best. Perfect just means executing what it set out to do in a way that is flawless.

Current raytracing solutions? Probably a 3.

A full raytracing or pathtracing pipeline? 5.

People who get excited at the notion of Half Life 3 being a VR game

Reminds me of the people who get excited about rehash live action movies by Disney.

People who get excited at Half Life 3 being a VR game are probably the type of people that actually look forward to groundbreaking innovation.

If Boneworks is any measure, a Half Life VR game can be truly revolutionary.

Not only do they have the opportunity to reimagine how physics works in gameplay, but they can reimagine how AI reacts to players, and how 3D audio ties into all of it.

At best, traditional games this generation try to reimagine something like the open world, like BOTW and Red Dead 2. That's as far as they've been able to push. Gameplay is otherwise very much just an evolution of what came before. With VR, the rules change entirely.

Lol if valve didn't exist PC gaming would be perfectly fine.

Also valve VR = a filler game no matter how big they make it.

People want half life 3 full blown PC version that pushes stuff forwards.

There's no such thing as a non-VR PC game that pushes things forwards. You can't do that because the ceiling has already been hit until AI can be redefined, which will happen first in VR and be more apparent in VR as well.

The only place for the Half Life series to move things forward is in VR.

@subspecies: Yeah...I'll take the third camp, the correct one, that VR is going to remain niche. Its already fading, "but but but you just wait it'll get huge", no it won't.

Looks like someone is very clueless. How can it be fading when it's only growing? Tsk tsk. Looks like correct means incorrect for you.

Uhh.... Half Life 3 as a standard PC game is a bigger cash grab. You realize that a VR game will sell less and is more risky, therefore it's the opposite of a cash grab?

No if HL 3 would release it would be a full game, whereas if HL is on VR it will be another 5hr game trying to cash in on the HL name, and therefore a cash crab.

Oh isn't this exciting! Can't wait for you to be wrong. Gabe has said that the VR games they are making are full length AAA, and the Valve team doesn't even want to make demos anymore; they are literally itching (and have been for years now) to make AAA VR games.

Oh really can I read the link where the fatman says all of this that you claim, don't get me wrong i'm not saying you're lying I just want a good read to laugh at.

Nah, it won't be Half-Life for sure.

Oh, it will be. We have the leaks.

I think they just add VR to HL. A port of the 20 year old game.

They won’t make HL3.

@warmblur said:

It will most likely by a VR Half life or HL 2 remake which is cool there's no way they will make HL3 for VR this is coming from someone that is a VR enthusiast.

Gabe said they do not want to do ports. It does very little to move the medium of VR forward. Valve want to be pioneers in this field.

Half life 3 will never happened because valve are no longer game developers. it would only happened if valve decide to publish/fund it and some other developer make it.

and i think crowbar collective the one behind black mesa should do HL3.

If Valve are no longer game developers, explain the 3 AAA VR games being made as well as the other two games they've recently released.

they have not released any games. F2P, card games are not AAA.

Okay, then wait until HLVR releases this year.

@darthbuzzard: Half Life VR, i'm sure most HL fans want a HL title that has the number 3 in it.

It's still the Half Life IP. And unlike Portal Bridge Constructor, this will be a full AAA in-house game that should (hopefully) live up to previous entries.

Unless it has a 3 next to it & not VR people will just see it for what it is, a cash crab gimmicky game.
