Greetings,
This post is my first at a Gamespot post. So, bear with me if I don't know the regs of posting on GS, but heck, here I am. Anyway, I'm dedicating this exlusively to destroying the PS3. Listen to this closely:
I AM SO SICK OF PLAYSTATION!!
I've heard quotes like, "once you're in the PS family, you are taken care of and blah blah blah," but that is pure bullcrap. I ditched the 'Playstation family' after the PS1. Did they 'take care of' me? Heck no. I actually was looking forward to the PS2, but that thing was the purest form of diarhea I have ever seen. What the heck? TWO controller ports? Why couldn't Sony pick up on Rare's multiplayer useage with four controllers in Goldeneye and Perfect Dark? That's stupidity in the purest form.
You really can't argue that the Xbox SYSTEM was better than PS2's. That's a lost battle. Plus Xbox had better online service, the hard drive and controller ports. The one and only reason that PS2 outdid Xbox was because of fanboy action and better marketing schemes etc. So, why am I telling you all of this? Here's why:
People look at the PS3 and say this is the same thing reversed! That the PS3 is like the Xbox, less games but better stuff. But that's just plain flat-out wrong. The only things I can find better in a PS3 are the hard drives and built in Wi-fi. We'll start with basic stuff, first Xbox Live is still way better than Sony's current stuff. There's a huger community out there for Xbox 360 users than PS3 users, plus the 360 has the Marketplace, the videos, ect. And then the 360 controllers is WAY better, especially considering Sixaxis is really useless.
Now, the actual tech. They say the cell utterly owns the 360, however, I have seen otherwise. I'm not sure where it is anymore, but I have seen graphs that show the 360 utterly outperforming the PS3 by wide margins, in exception for one smaller detail (I forget what). Also, seen here on Gamespot (user video), I saw a video where Tony Hawk's project 8 was loaded on both consoles simultaneously to compare loading times. Well, guess what? The Xbox 360 KILLED the PS3 by a nice margin. The PS3 looks good on paper, but the Xbox 360 is designed a lot better. Rather than being jumbled into the system, it has a unified pipe system. Everything works together a lot faster that way.
Now, for the built in Wi-fi. Nice touch, but that's for the 599.99 version. I've seen complaints that the 479.99 Elite is too expensive, and that ultimately the PS3 is a better buy because of the built in Wi-fi and blu-ray. I've found wireless receivers for less than fifty dollars. So let's add fifty dollars to that, it's still 530 dollars, about seventy dollars less than the PS3. If you add the HD-DVD drive to the 360, it outprices the PS3 by thirty dollars. But you get a better system with the same stuff for $630.
Just to prove a point, I'm not alone. PC World cited the PS3 as number eight on the top 21 technical screw-ups of 2006, and slammed it for being late, expensive, and inconpatible. Gamesradar asked PS how they could "take one of the most anticipated game consoles of all time and - within the space of a year - turn it into a hate object reviled by the entire internet" and added that despite its problems the console had "untapped potential".
This is the part that PS fanboys should read:
I know I won't change your mind. Ever. You'll argue with me until I'm hanging from the gallows, but alas: You have LOST. You LOSE. Playstation is DYING. Ditch the system while you still can!
Mountain Zew. Do the Zew.
