Hi i am curious about the hdmi function on xbox 360. I played my xbox 360 on a hd-tv at my parents house in CA for a year, and the picture looked dull on 480p, almost like a s-video signal type of quality. On 720p it looks best, and most sharp. On 1080p the sharpness and textures fade (upclose textures are blurry). Now On a 720p Sanyo tv (one of the first hd tvs tube crystal pixel type) it looks like 1080i is the best. It cant do 1080p and the strangest part is that 720p looks blurry and 480p almost indistinquishable from 1080i. 1080i looks sharpest. I recall the textures on the hd-tv looking 3dimensional when zooming in to the batman textures ONLY on 720p. Now whats strange is the 720p signal is dull on the Sanyo. How do tube hdmi tvs work exactly? Is there no direct signal for 720p? If this is the case I just leave it on 1080i. Why does 480p on the Sanyo display a better signal than the 720p one and almost equivalent to the 1080i?> This must mean the hd-tv was analog at 480p at my parents house but im not sure. Thanks.
Ps I know all about the upscaling effect and diminishing resolutions. I was just wondering why the crystal bulb hdmi tvs have this effect of lowering the 720p res.
