The IP wouldn't really lend itself well to a Nintendo exclusive title. You would have to take out a lot of the alcohol and scantily-clad women, and tone down the violence and, well, piracy.

As a third-party game, sure, maybe.

I actually don't see such a game being like AC, so much as it would Sea of Thieves. Whenever I think of PotC, what comes to mind for me is sort of these endless adventures Jack Sparrow goes on where fantastical things happen, and by the end he winds up back to square one not much worse for wear. It would have to be this sort of never-ending game with an almost "Animal Crossing" approach to the overall structure - some epic and massive adventures in between, as well as many smaller ones, all encased in seas of relative chill.

I can think of one FPS character that's better suited than Slayer. Joanna Dark, mainly as She's more intertwined with Nintendo history.

I'd say Master Chief is also more suited (even though no Halo games ever launched on Nintendo systems.).

I think both of these would be great. I'd thought about MC being in the game before and that'd be awesome, but I think the way to make it work with Joanna would be to keep her default look from the original game, and maybe add in the Zero look as a variant.

@ophelmark: I actually really liked Double-Tap, more than the original even. But I did only watch the original for the first time like a week or so before the new movie.

Sorry to hear you hated it so much lol.

I don't think Ghost's topic is really that strange. To be honest, I think we're reaching this point where gaming systems are essentially PCs, and I kind of appreciate that Microsoft has bridged that gap and essentially made a gaming PC console. If this thing runs Windows and has keyboard and mouse input, then that's pretty dope. I guess I could add AoE4 to the list of games I could play then lol.

No snow here yet this weekend, but you can have all of the sleet and slush we've been getting!

I've been throwing out / getting rid of / selling a bunch of junk I no longer need. I don't want to own too much stuff, and I generally feel better whenever my life is free of clutter. But the main reason is so I can pick up and move whenever with relative ease, if that happens.

Most of the day wasn't noteworthy. I have pretty much just been trying to relax. I might end up sitting down and playing a game for a while here, maybe some WoW Classic, or Diablo 3 if I wanna mix things up. I will probably try to stay up as much as I can, since my sleep schedule will have to change around a little soon.

Tomorrow there's a possibility I might get to meet this woman I've messaged here and there the past couple of years. I am not sure if she is actually interested in hanging out for a little or grabbing a coffee and talking or anything like that, but we'll see. Might not even happen. I guess it depends on if there is snow, and if she keeps responding to messages tomorrow.

@angerawr: Thanks for hearing me out and responding, angerawr.

I am not sure what the general consensus is here on the GS boards, but I think the forums will benefit from it, personally.

I am just going to make this list off the top of my head, and I have no idea what will release this year for certain, nor what I will actually end up buying this year in particular.

  • Halo Infinite - I have been out of the loop a little with Halo in recent years, but with Infinite it seems like 343 is taking the best parts of the Halo series and giving Halo fans the game they've wanted since 3 concluded. It's great that we're already talking about things that are coming back, but I am equally excited to see what this game will do differently. I am getting the impression that everything will be on a broader scale than ever before.
  • Overwatch 2 - OW has been my favorite newer contender in the FPS genre for the past couple of years, and one thing people have been asking for is more story. Some of those archives missions were fun to play, especially with achievement-hunting in mind, and having a greater emphasis on story and co-op will be a lot of fun. So while it might not be a big blockbuster of the year, I think this is like the expansion this game has needed, coming along at the right time.
  • Metroid Prime 4 - As much as I wanted to put the Zelda sequel here, I think what we need more is a great new Metroid Prime game. And who knows if it will arrive by year's end or take another year or two yet, but I think with all of the time, effort and money Nintendo has invested in this project so far, they want to make sure this one is good.
  • Baldur's Gate 3 - Larian Studios is just great. Divinity OS is great. I am sure if anyone can revive a beloved IP in this genre, this is the studio to put in charge of it. I also think this will be a flagship game that gets people to reconsider Stadia. I sort of doubt this game is coming soon, but there will apparently be more news about it in February.
  • Diablo 4 - I haven't gotten into the Diablo games in all these years. I played a bit of 3 last year and that was somewhat fun, but everything I'm seeing about the series' fourth entry has me interested. The unveiling was awesome, and I'm liking the changes from 3 and the tone of the game. This might be where I finally get into Diablo. I'm gonna go and expect this will be a 2020 release.

This sounds like a first-world problem.

@SOedipus: That's disappointing, but maybe that's just how things are going now.

I think either way, the days when GS acknowledged its user base is gone. It seems like articles are disconnected from the users anymore. It's kind of sad. At least it felt more like we could converse with staff years ago.

@SOedipus: Agreed.

Idk, I have been wondering a little bit if the site is going to undergo some redesign again, or close completely. It would be nice to get some response from the staff.
