My honest answer is;

Playing law/detective is fun. Thats why I'm a big fan of Ace Attorney and LA Noire

Playing a cowboy is fun. Unforunately RDR was GTA4 with horses and a desert. I'm gonna go back and finish it, because I want to like it.

Playing as an immigrant Russian that works for the mob, ect is not fun. I find the whole gang/mob scene disgusting. Its not fun, its not appealing, its just boring. Seriously who wants to play that?

This guy s the only person that admits to the real reason you guys like the other two but not gta, story, that makes me sick. I appreciate the realism put into gta and much rather have a slightly boring game then its predecessor to have much more realism.

It's a misunderstood game.

No one, not even me, had extremely expectations for it.

The_Capitalist
thats after the DEMO and everyone realizing how crap it was, before that and as far as many people who dont follow games know, its the return of the original. Hell DN3D was the first FPS i ever played when i was a kid.

You know what's hilarious? I'm actually in a fraternity. Sorry bro, more fail for you.

i doubt it, I was in Pike before I graduated, but either way, heres a link that proves my point: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/32463904/ns/technology_and_science-games/t/study-average-gamer-fat-bummed/

I'm in Crow. I'm actually siting in the building right now.

Anywho, I'm done feeding the troll. If you want some attention make a new thread based on that article. Then again, please don't.

Well if I can provide that link, im pretty sure we can create a study that finds the mental and physical state is positively correlated to the amount of times that person replays a game or plays for achievements :)

Huge expectations, long development cycle, more than too human, massive hype. And we get this BS of a game. Nostalgia is not worth 60 bucks, anyone who pays 60 bucks for this game makes me sick. I dont know what other game could fail soo much like this did, just the amount of time it took. And im suprised it went to gearbox, sure they made borderlands, but still, it shoulda went to a more reputable company for not releasing bs products.

You, sir, are my hero of the day. Well put.

PatchMaster

so all those people with the tastes you mentioned are part of a mass of people with IQ's lower than 70 and fall in to the typical range? im gonna argue that you dont fall into that category cause you arnt excepted because your either physically unattractive or socially inept, so you follow another assortment of alternative groups, emos, gamers, nerds, etc to fit in. See how your logic fails?

Because was GTA4 was a downgrade from SA. SA had allot more to do, allot more to explore, and allot more vehicles.

RDR improved allot from its previous game (and really any western themed game)

LA Noir is a really unique and original IP

So downgrade vs huge improvement vs unique new IP. (which one sounds worse here:question: )

For reference, I was a huge GTA fan. SA is my most played game of last gen, but when I tried 4, it just felt boring and the cars handled like ***** now.:(

dercoo

to me gta4 was an upgrade, sa was too unrealistic, not nearly as gritty, all the ps2 era gtas copied some movie and some genre, the stories and feel were never realistic, gta4 was, even down to the local slang here in nyc.

GTA is not supposed to be realistic.

Its supposed to be mindless stupid fun

its called evolution of a game series, go play saints row to have stupid fun if u want. if u havnt noticed, stupid fun is no longer allowed in gaming, thats why duke nukem fails, if ur into stupid fun, thats fine, but id rather that gaming evolve graphically and realistically, to an extent of course. And gta was a good balance of fun and realism.

[QUOTE="deadlyabdus123"]Instead of going on a rant like my other post, Ill ask you guys and then counter the argument. I feel all this COD hate going around the gaming community is alienating us from most gamers and fails in logical reasoning and would love to hear your thoughts. rollermint
I don't hate it. I played COD4 to hell and back. But I'm done with that kind of FPS. Lost all taste for it. I think the haters aren't really hating the GAME but Activision and its approach to that IP. Which is basically reselling the same game every year. Its the principle that some folks are against.

Like EA with Madden? I think the improvments are just enough worth 60 bucks if you log hours into a game like I do. For example, if a Swimmer trains 2 more months to add .2 seconds to his score at a competition, isint it worth it? yes for him that .2 adds value in what he likes and is worth the effort. The added fun of wagers, kill streaks, etc is worth my 60 bucks due to how much i play twitch shooters.
