Well it seems to me that it depends on whether you consider a game art or not that matters. There are games that are artistic or have an artistic message like flower and ICO etc.. In a way, the ME3 universe and its characters are an artistic creation so i think there is definitly an artistic element to that game.
But they did also advertise the fact that gameplay choices would be reflected and have effects on what the player experiences. maybe this would be a good poll to do. How many people think ME3 is art or is it a game? Cant a game be a product with an artistic element aswell?
Its been too long since agent 47 was last skulking around so its good to see him back. And its sounding impressive so far! 500 person crowds are an impressive technical feat.
I agree with some of what is said here. From the point of view of a game as an artistic expression it definitly is not fair to expect the creators to change games to satisfy people, as Abraham Lincoln once said “You can please some of the people some of the time all of the people some of the time some of the people all of the time but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”
I have to disagree on the mass effect 3 ending however. That was a special case in regaurds to how players were consistently told all through the trillogy that the gameplay decisions they made would have real and quantifiable effects and consequences later in the game or series but in the end players were given three prescribed endings. That was a case of false advertising in my opinion and players had a right to criticise it.
This does raise an interesting question though, how much of games are art and how much are product?
I just personally have no interest in this game. I don't like this new "Reimagined" raiden. It stinks of some corporate scheme to make him popular and i think the MGS series should get back to its roots gameplay wise coz it seems to be going down that often traveled road of CODising games.
@GamingVent Oh definitely! Theres been loads of game series that i got into through first buying a game second hand after which i ended up buying other games new.
Well firstly its promising to hear of the early release date and the lack of download only games. I wouldn't have bought a PS3 if it was download only as I am one of those people with a dodgy internet connection.
However it does show Sony's and Microsoft's aim for things like digital distribution and DRM. Its fairly clear they intend to kill the second hand games industry as soon as they can.
