@Dannystaples14 I'm saying Van Ord must take pride in being the lowest reviewer, because he seems to do it pretty often. And if the reviews didn't matter at all, then this site (and metacritic, and yelp, and consumer reports) wouldn't exist. I only like to point out reviews that seem to misrepresent the game.

Good - "You race beautiful cars on beautiful tracks."

Bad - "Bland atmosphere"

wut?

Also, to complain about the AI on a very obvious multiplayer online game sounds more like a premature review than an unbiased, informed one. I guess being the lowest score on metacritic is something to be proud of. Just as much as the highest one.

More Kinects will sell now that they are unbundled? Microsoft's original policies were the right vision? This Mehdi guy has access to some pretty good hashish.

It makes sense for him not to care. He was brought in to turn around the sinking ship, and we'll see if the price drop helps out. Last month, even the Wii-U outsold the Xone (ouch). I'm sure he would be happy as a clam if they technically "lost" the console war (just consoles sold?) if they make a whole bunch of money on it. Of course, a good way to make money is to sell more consoles, and in the long run, you can't consistently lose the console war and expect to remain competitive. But losing ground in the first year of release? It's not a red flag.

@zerohournow No need to worry. There was a Farming Simulator 2013, they just shortened the year to two digits for the sequel. Probably trying to make it sound like an EA franchise.

I guess M$ didn't really learn much from the last gen releases. PS3 debuted at too high of a price, arguing it was a great value considering the inclusion of a blu-ray player, and their fancy cpu. Result: sluggish sales.

Now M$ is trying to do the same song and dance... Xbone is priced highest, but is a great value considering the Kinect and... and...

Just based on recent history, I would predict Xbone having sluggish sales (not counting pre-orders... pre-orders usually sell out to all the fanboys).

"We need to break free from the hold nostalgia has on us."

Don't entirely agree or disagree... nostalgia just for the sake of making money is a crude and base action to swindle the consumer. Kinda like remaking Judge Dredd or Total Recall, and not doing a good job of it. I disagree that we need to do away with it entirely. Games are more fun when they build upon previous entries and actually reference them, which is a form of nostalgia. It's natural that we feel warm and fuzzy when we "get it", or understand the reference, and this isn't a bad thing. Taking advantage of it as a cheap way to profit is a bad thing.

Newsflash! Customers are the reason you make money... if they have a backlash, it's your own fault and the customer is right. Unless you don't want to make money.

This particular score is quite off from other sites, which is fine. What I find troubling is the approach. A remake isn't supposed to change the game so much it becomes unfamiliar, so expecting the game to be updated with the latest and greatest platforming fads is just plain wrong. The original game would score a 9, IMO, and as long as the remake just updates the graphics and music, it should receive a decent score. Would you judge a remastered Robocop worse than the original because they didn't make everything CGI and have Michael Bay explosions everywhere?

I'll play this game myself and write a review from the perspective of someone who played the original as a kid (I'm inclined to believe Mr. McShea did not), and see if this review holds any water.
