The whole Basic Model was a sham from the start and your getting nothing of value from it.

If the Wii U ever get's a Price drop, it will be at the start when Xbox One and PS4 hits the Market and I'm sure Iwata will change his mind.

In the begining, no one wanted the Basic Model but at Launch, it was so hard to find the Deluxe because it was the best value money you can get. ZombiU Deluxe is a much better value [to me] but as of now, I'm enjoying my 3DS XL and I'm helping Nintendo supporting there Handheld and I'm not sure if I will ever get a Wii U and my focus on now is getting PS4 for now. The Wii U price is fair and it has not been a full year to asking for a Price Drop.
