This may seem like a stupid rant, but it's something I need a little help with. I live in the San Francisco Bay Area and, at the risk of sounding pompous, live a relatively luxurious lifestyle. I try not to be too spoiled (I'm quite the cheapskate, to the point where I bought a fedora for a banquet but didn't take the tag off because I wanted to return it) but I'm still pretty well off.
Here's where I feel guilty. I still live with my parents, but will be graduating from college and (hopefully) earning my own money soon. My parents have purchased a Wii and a PS3 for my brother (both of which I use) and we've also purchased a PS2, PS1, N64, and Sega Genesis in the past. However, I have some younger cousins in India who, compared to us, are not too well off. They live fairly simple lives and have never owned a video game system, but they really want some. Any. They don't even know that much about them, and when asked which ones they want, they simply reply "Mario, Donkey Kong, Zelda". Their parents won't buy them any because they don't want them to be distracted from their studies (and because they can't afford them).
Should I feel guilty about purchasing so many game systems when my cousins so desperately want one? What about if I buy them from my own money?
