I'm playing on a Slim. Just went over the 6MB mark in my save file, and still have had no issues what so ever. Only time I get slowdown is during the autosaves. Have yet to have any of the major issues people are reporting.

I do only have 1 save file, don't know if that makes a difference. But yeah, its been good as gold for me.

Can't really say until the Wii 2 specs are released. But don't forget your Wii DOES have an SD card slot. If the Wii 2 does as well, it'd be easy to put all yer VC games onto the SD Card and pop it into the Wii 2.

This is simple and easy. IF nintendo doesn't allow it, it'll be on purpose to get you to rebuy all the VC games you downloaded. If this happens, bravo sierra on nintendo. Would seriously make me consider not getting a Wii 2.

2. still dont get it, she killed him "for good" many times, and revived, she shouldnt be shocked 3. i know she blew up the entire thing, but after this i just cant figure how can a sensitive character as samus be cooperating with the galatic federation ever again... it doesnt make senseVikthorious

Although not directly explained, if yer up on the Metroid history, Ridley is the one who killed her parents and destroyed her home right in front of her when she was only 3. Think about it like this, a guy breaks into your house and murders your family right in front of you. You grow up and kill him. He comes back to life. You kill him AGAIN, and he comes back to life AGAIN. You'd be pretty freaked out too.

She always cooperates with the Federation, they are the ones hiring her in just about every Metroid. Although after Fusuion she would be dumb to keep working with them. Fusion and Other: M makes it TWICE that they clone Metroids, after she worked so ahrd to wipe them out.

1. It's nothing like Metal Gear aside from the "Samus!!!" during the death scene.

2. The first 2 hours are by far the worst in the entire game.

3. No, it could not run on the gamecube. The graphics are significantly better than a Gamecube game.

4. Miyamoto had nothing to do with this game, only was a producer during the Prime Trilogy, and really has very little to do with the Metroid franchise. Sakamoto is Metroid's father, although he had nothing to do with the Prime Trilogy. That is why this game bares resemblance to his last 2 Metroid games, Super Metroid and Fusion.

5. There's very, very few of those stop and look around sequences.

6. Aside from an emotional Samus, the story I thought was excellent. Lot's of twists and turns, a few I actually did not see coming, and I really felt the weight of the story. Too bad Samus loses her "tough girl" image. That's the only part of it that affects the story if you ask me.

7. To answer your last post, you're looking for green gel on the ground.

Agree with most everything, except for the emotional samus losing her tough girl image. I mean, in gameplay and action she is by far more badass than she has ever been. Did we forget that Mother Brain wasted her in Super Metroid until the baby interviened?

The emotion and depth to her character have been a part of it for ages. She didn't heartlessly blast the baby Metroid when it hatched in Metroid II. She had many of the same character traits in the manga. The Kratos-like "Just kills and doesn't care about anything" character was just imagined by players with no imagination.

Being that this story and character in Other: M was crafted by Sakamoto, the man who CREATED her in the first place, I'd say this is a better reprentation of who she is and has always been than what was imagined by us players when we were 12.

Changing your opinion on the game based on having the creators vision of the character explained is just the same as if you stopped liking the first Metroid when you found out Samus was a woman. "Awwww I thought she was a man, thats not how I imagined the character. This sucks now"

Slightly off topic. Is anoyone else amazed that Video Games are still profitable? Think about it. Metroid Other: M cost the same amount of money in 2010 as Metroid did in 1987. $50.00

However, if you factor in Inflation, the value of money has close to halved since 1987. $50.00 in 2010 is worth about $25.00 is 1987. So in terms of pure value, Metroid Other: M cost HALF as much as the orginal Metroid.

Yet, the game itself took YEARS and a massive staff to deveolp, while the original Metroid only took a few months and a small staff to create. Production costs are WAY UP, while the value of each game is WAY DOWN.

I know its the Video Game Market expansion, since more games sell now than they did in 1987, it just boggles my mind its expended THAT MUCH to make games continue to be profiable.

Sorry, just a lil tagent the sales talk put me on.

[QUOTE="GabuEx"]

Actually, wait, hold on, these numbers are actually entirely comparable to Metroid Prime 3. That chart is only sales in North America, and Metroid Prime 3 only sold 240K in America in week 1. The opening post is comparing apples to oranges.

The_Pig_Hostage

It was 367k for Prime 3 worldwide vs 280k for Other M, so there does seem to be a bit of a drop there overall. But yeah, not as bad as the original post made it sound.

Theres also alot of other factors to be considered. The Economy is 2007 was a LOT better than it is in 2010, even Worldwide. So people were spending more money back then. Other:M being a little bit behind in a much weaker economey shows it is definately being succesful.

Third person is fine, but I don't think analog is necessary. Other M played just fine.

Zophar87

Agreed. Although I would like a Wiimote with a bigger D pad. I had a little trouble running diagonally because of how stiff and small the D Pad was. (No jokes pls, we get it. hah hah.) A larger D pad would make it a lot easier.

I personally would like to see new 2D Metroids on the DS or 3DS, and Other M style 3D Metroids on the Wii and its succesor. The Primes were a good series, but 3 is enough.

On a side note, I've noticed most people who prefer the Primes started with the Primes. Is there anyone out there whos played Metroid since the beginning but prefer the Primes?

I played and beat every Metroid when it was new. While I loved the Primes, the 3rd Person style is still the best way to do it. REAL Space Jump and Screw Attack pls.

(For the sake of full disclosure, never beat Hunters cause frankly, it stinks. But I'm working on it now just to cut that last notch off my belt)

U said it my friend! I would love to see the 3DS have a completely side scrolling metroid with nice 3D graphics. I love Other M's style, but I would like to see some changes made to it no doubt.

NaveedLife

Agreed. Other: M is great. I havn't even finished it and I already want more. I definately want more Other: M gameplay style Metroids on the Wii or its succesor. That being said, a 2D Metroid on the 3DS would be to die for. New Super Mario Brothers style. Lets put the 3D Metroids on the consoles, and the 2D ones on the hand helds.

Auto aim is a very good idea for a 3D shooter--especially with enemies coming from all sorts of different angles. It would be annoying trying to line up your shot without auto aim in this game. Of course if this were a 2D platforming shooter--like the old Metroids--then of course it's easier to line up your shots.

With the exception of being told when to use parts of your armory and Samus cowering to an old foe she faced so many times, the overall story was pretty good. I didn't want the story to end and I always looked forward to seeing how the plot unraveled. I can't wait until the next Metroid comes out (except if it's like Hunters).

Tri-Enforcer

Well, as far as Ridley goes, if you read the manga she has the exact same reaction to him. Before she finally bucks up and wastes him. Yes, shes faced him many times. But think about it like this. If some guy broke into your house and killed your entire family as you watched as a child, then you grow up, get revenge, and kill the guy. But you kill him, and he comes back to life and goes after you again. You kill him again, he comes BACK to life again. No matter how hard you try, this bastard just won't stay dead. You'd be pretty freaked out too.

As for being told when to use her weapons. Adam ASKED her to agree to follow his orders. She obviously has a lot of respect for the guy (Just play Fusion) so she agreed. Granted, there are some oddities (Sorry Adam, I respect you, but if I'm about to die from heat damage I'm turning on my Varia) but I suspect this was just the best way to have suit upgrades fit with the story. It would be boring and very Un-Metroidish to get all your power ups from the start. And stumbling upon Chozo Artificats to power up your suit in the BOTTLE SHIP wouldn't make much sense.
