[QUOTE="desol89"]I agreed with everything, except it being the hardest form of Guitar playing. Classical guitar is more difficult, in my opinion, and a slow piece in Classical guitar music can be very difficult, too.i dont visit these forums hardly at all, but this is one of the most mature threads ive read in a long time.
personally, i dont like metal that much. in MY opinion (yes i realize, only MY opinion) i feel like metal usually has a very loud, emotionless sound to it. a lot of bands tend to emphasize speed in their solos. and i just dont feel the vibe from this genre. there are maybe a few songs of the sort that i do like, i cant name them off tho.
however, i am an amateur guitarrist, and while i dont admire the genre that much, i will say with full confidence that metal is most probably the hardest material to play on a guitar. some soloists play at blazing speeds that i can only dream of playing (at least due to my late start..maybe). techniques like tapping come to mind that blow me away.
the kind of music i LOVE to listen to does involve some heavy stuff. my 2 favorite artists are RHCP and hendrix. hendrix was just a god, i dont have to explain anything about him, everyone already knows. as for the peppers, i love funk and the rhythyms associated with it, and the style that RHCP plays inspired me to pick up a guitar and really put in the time and effort to play material like theirs.
i realize i might seem like i have a very shallow mind when it comes to musical tastes, and that is partly right. mainly ive fallen prey to the problem where i love those 2 bands so much that i am both lazy and unwilling to try and expand what other artists to listen to. they come very slowly and it takes me some time to fully imbibe another band's style.
hope no one finds that this is too much to read :)

ah yea you're right. classical guitar completely skipped my mind but you're right, the finger picking style associated with it is definitely no walk in the park.
