It's sad that we have to buy the next six fighters for $30. Smh. I thought this was the definitive edition with everything but it's just the season 1 and 2 characters plus arcade mode
@RaveNRolla: I agree with you. This fan boyish attitude is not necessary. I like to see the 3 compete like you said to make their products better and get better exclusives
MS gets the lower grade barely but the X kept it away from getting a C from me, in my opinion. MS struggled software wise against Sony and Nintendo. However, their hardware is undeniably a beast. I just picked up an X. BC is good and free but I need some exclusives like Scalebound. MS didn't continue the momentum the 360 had. They got greedy and they paid for it. But they rebound. I suggest the S if you have a 1080p TV, the X if you have a 4K/HDR.
Sony gets a B+. It is the must own system for 3rd party exclusives, indies and JRPGs. Nier, Horizon Zero Dawn, Persona 5, Tales of Berseria and many others came out this year. This is my go to console and their list of exclusives are great. The Pro is a deserving console in its on right which I own but the original PS4 will do. Get it if you have a 4K TV like the X. The BC is an issue. They charge where MS doesn't. Sony made up for the debacle in the PS3 charging $600 for it and the 360 took off. Plus Sony has a lineup in 2018 with Spiderman, Days Gone, God of War and many other exclusives in the pipeline. It is a good time to own a PS4.
Nintendo gets a B. The tragedy of the Wii U in which I owned. The Switch is a very capable system and I love it. Their exclusives once again carry their system. 3rd party has migrated to the system like Doom and Skyrim. The system lacks in power compared to Sony and MS but Nintendo makes up for it with great exclusives. The downside of the Switch is games like Xenoblade that suffers in handheld mode tremendously and none of the big boys are on the system. Yet, it's a great system to own and I am enjoying mine wholeheartedly.
Choose the system or systems for yourself. They all have their positives and negatives. I am fortunate that I can afford all 3 and the games I like. Not a fanboy I just call it how I see it and to me it's not necessary to upgrade to the mid gen consoles unless you have the TV and the money to do so.
