Sports Games!

this happens to me at least a few times a year, a really great looking sports game, like NHL 09 is comming out, and i'm excited, and all my friends are gonna buy it and play online together, but i must refrain myself from getting it. doesn't make sense right? but i know from experience that any sports game i get will not last me more than a few weeks, no matter how hard i try. i'll start and dynasty with high hopes of completing a few years, but i get 20 games into a season before i'm totally bored. it just doesn't do it for me, and i can't help it. at least i know to save my money, cuz i'm gonna need every penny to buy a new car. ya i got my liecnse! but my car is gonna break down real soon so..

Metal Gear Solid

as you may have noticed from my blog posts, or lack of blog posts, i went thru a kind of games withdrawl phase in the past few months. i dont know what it was, working, studying, sleeping, working out, i just didnt play a lot of games, i just didnt have the desire, but just lately, i finished off bioshock and picked up metal gear solid again. sometimes you can been so not in the mood for that game, and that was me for the longest time, but when you really want to play that game, there is no other. i ploughed through the last three quarters of that game in a few days and loved it. it's a different kind of game, and i enjoy the long cutscenes and intricate storyline. i started #2 today, i think i've already played over 5 hours, and i had school today! by the end of the month i should be done 4, hopefully! i'll keep you posted. ;)

The Time Traveller's Wife

don't you just love pleasent surprises? well when i was young, i enjoyed reading. my favorites included the series of unfortunate events and the dan brown books, but one that has always stood out in mind, and has no doubt always been and always will be my favorite book is the time traveller's wife by audrey niffenegger. it is just the perfect book for me, drama, suspense, romance and of course, time travel. i never thought i could get so excited over a book, but when the pieces fall together and things just click in this book, i cannot put it down. not many ppl have heard of this book tho, but everyone i've met who has shares my enthusiasm. as i read the book, i imagined it in movie format, as most people probably do when they read a book, so you can probably imagine how i felt when i learned that it is coming out on movie this xmas! usually you have to wait the entire movie-making process for a movie you are anticipating, but i only have to wait a few months! if only that were the case for god of war 3..

It's Great to Skate!

just something weird i noticed lately, i've just been having the urge to go skateboarding. i havn't skated for a couple years but carving around the bowl at my local skatepark seems like heaven right now. fortunately for me a few of my buddies have also wanted to go skateboarding lately so i guess we'll go sometime soon. maybe it has something to do with me starting to play skate. again. i picked it up for PS3 when it was released but didn't really play it with all the other games coming out, and i just decided to pick it up again and it's the best game. to top it off, i'm going to try to get a job at easy rider tomorrow. i am just sick of my current job at brewster's as a line cook and easy rider seem's like a great job. (it's a snow/skate board shop.) weird.

Indoor Provincials 2008

let me just start off by saying we shouldn't even be here. a first year U18 team against the bunch of second year select teams. lo and behold we go 4-1 in the 3rd round and go to provincials. first 3 games are a joke. we win 3-0, 9-2 and 8-0. unfortunately our team is plagued with injuries and people having to leave early, so we go into the gold medal final with low expectations. to top it off, this team Britannia has never lost or tied all year. we still go out hard, and manage to score first, but they came back with a quick one. we might actually have a shot at winning this, but they ref decides to give them a penalty kick when their player trips over the ball in our box. of course they score, but we aren't giving up. soon its 3-2 them with time winding down, it's a hand ball in their box! a penalty kick for us could tie it up, but our best penalty shooters are on the bench, and the ref wants to keep the game going. looks like I have to step up, so I set up the ball and line up to the right, like I'm a lefty. when the ref blows the whistle, I moved over the left, because I actually shoot right. it's tough being a goalie, so he's probably still trippin' when I slide it bottom left. wow, this is the closest Britannia has ever come to losing, and we have them in a shootout for provincial gold. we have a very nice lineup of shooters, and I'm the fifth. it goes:

Yellowbird goal goal miss goal goal
Britannia goal goal miss goal goal

we're taking it to extra shooters. literally all season coming down to two shots. the underdogs playing the gods, but what can we say, we missed, they scored. sliver is nothing to sneeze at, our team had an amazing season. I personally had an amazing season, leading the team with 15 goals and I just had a lot of fun. the whole season was a good team effort and chillin' with the team at the hotel was just great, lotta fun. good thing our team is staying together for the upcoming outdoor season and we'll definitely be ready to kick some heads in!

Slush Cup 2008

i just can't work under these conditions. my soccer team entered a tournament to prepare ourselves for provincials, but if we play like we just did, we will get our butts handed to us on a silver platter. first game (11.00 PM) was against a mixed team, yeah guys and girls. easy right? it shoulda been, both genders were horrible at soccer. we were up 2-0, until millhouse let in a squeaker from half. it probably wasn't going any faster than a light pass but somehow dribbled in. next thing we know they have a little bit of momentum and get a couple of 5-hole goals. now it's 3-3. good thing i'm on the field tho, i pot one that should be enuff to hold on to the win, but uh-oh, less than a minute left, phuffy in our own zone with no pressure on him, passes back to our goalie and it slides into the back of the net. great. next game (11.00 PM) was against our good friends, royal gardens. a tuff game, it was 3-2 them with a minute left, send out the power line, sure enuff phia scores with 2.6 seconds left. now all we havta do next game (8.45 AM) is win with a shutout to get that extra point. it's lookin good after the first half, 4-0, but mid second half, our goalie millhouse coming of his box to kick the ball, tries to kick it forward, instead it rolls up his foot and through his legs, sideways into our net. tournament changes die right there. of our teams 12 goals, i'm on the field for 8 of them, scoring 3 of them, and then that's how the rest of my team performs. i'm calling my agent. :|

Today.. I UPGRADE!

when i woke up this morning i had no idea it would be such a great day. i just went to school and wrote a social final exam, then decided to skip the afternoon and play COD4 with some friends. while there i recieve a phone call from my dad, telling me he'll take me to best buy to get this tv i had been eyein'. its a 40' SAMSUNG 1080p LCD and a 7pc SAMSUNG surround sound system for $1499 total! i had been begging my dad to let me get it, with my own money of course, so i was pretty pumped. we rolled down to best buy, picked it up, along with a surge protector and HDMI cable for my PS3. when i get home they crack the news that they're paying for it! i could have never guessed! i joyfully bounded downstairs to set it all up, and in the process, i spot a little bit of a blue and green box in the corner, under some blankets. it turns out my parents had also picked up the impossible to find ROCK BAND a while ago! soon i was all set up and rockin' out! now i really feel like a true gamer, i have officially upgraded! :!

2007 -> ROCKIN' -> 2008

rockin' in the new year! what a way to kick of 2008. i spent new years eve with a few friends playing rock band, which we were lucky enough to get our hands on. our big plan was to be rockin' out hard as the clock struck midnight, so at 11:59 we started a new tour, with random songs, and of all the songs, what came up? DETROIT ROCK CITY! newly unlocked song, all of us playing it for the first time so we gave it a go! everyone was rockin' out extra hard, with guitar solos rolling on the ground, singing at the top of our lungs ontop of tables and head bangin' drumming. i have to say tho it was a tuff song, and there were a few fails, especially drums, which actually failed three times right at the end of the song! we thot that was it, nobody could save drums with star power, but somehow at the last drum roll he was back in, and we wailed on our instruments as hard as we could! so hard on the drums that we pounded them right down to minimum height, and as the last few notes came to hit the ending bonus we nailed it! sending the crowd and the band into a moshing frenzy, knocking over all the instruments in the process. usher in 2008 and keep on rockin! 8)

Blu-Ray's

i love getting blu-ray's for my PS3, but one thing i've noticed is that the cases seem a little sketchy, like the 3 i've bought so far, the outside finish is a little wrinkled, the plastic too loose around the movie. i'm talking about the plastic after you open it and take off the seal and stuff, the one that holds the cover art. and when i open the case, the little piece of paper in the left side is too big, so all crunched up. one of the cases had broken handles on the left side. it's just weird since blu-ray's are so superior to DVD's but their packaging looks like they were made by a grade 3 art class. and one more thing, my M:I-3 blu-ray came with 2 discs! one for the special features, even tho blu-ray discs can hold more than enough for both, its just a marketing technique to make it look like there is more. rediculous.

Boxing Day 07

c'mon, its boxing day, you have to line up, even if you're not buying anything big and probably not saving much money. my friends and i headed down to best buy around 2AM with lawn chairs just to chill, and what can i say, i had fun. the store opened around 6, but the bad part was that they let everyone in the store at the same time. usually they will do intervals, let the first 50 in for 5 minutes then let another 50 in, but nope, everyone swarmed so ppl who got there right at 6 were getting the same dibbs as ppl there overnight! it wasn't a big deal to me tho cuz i just picked up a PS3 controller, uncharted, bioshock and R6V. bioshock was $40 and vegas was $20 so that wasn't bad, but even better was that anyone there before 5.30 got a free movie under $30, so i picked up 300 on blu-ray, just told em i was here, no proof and i got it, so it was alright. 8)
